### ★☆☆☆☆ Traffic estimates so BAD its misleading
- MIEL LANGE · 2026-09-29

★☆☆☆☆ Traffic estimates so inaccurate they undermine the product

Ahrefs presents traffic figures with a level of precision that, in my experience, they do not deserve. I have compared its estimates with first-party analytics for a site I can verify, and the gap is enormous. A publisher looking at the Ahrefs figure alone would come away with a seriously misleading picture of that site’s audience. A site gets 870k , they show <400. YOU ARE A JOKE IN THE INDUSTRY AHREFS AND FULL OF EXCUSES.

I understand that third-party traffic figures are estimates. The problem is how easily those estimates can be treated as facts when assessing a publisher, pricing a partnership or judging performance. If the underlying data cannot reliably capture a site’s traffic, a precise-looking number offers false confidence.

Ahrefs should make the limitations of its traffic estimates much more prominent and give users a clearer indication of when an estimate may be especially unreliable. Based on the discrepancy I have seen firsthand, I cannot recommend relying on its traffic figures for business decisions.

> 商家回复 (2026-09-29): Hello and thank you for sharing your concerns.

As you correctly pointed out, Ahrefs’ traffic figures are estimates based on our data and models, rather than measurements of a website’s actual traffic. As a result, they can differ — sometimes significantly — from first-party analytics. They’re primarily intended for comparative SEO research and identifying trends, rather than as a substitute for a site’s own analytics or as an exact measure of its audience.

That said, we appreciate your feedback about making these limitations clearer, particularly when these estimates are used to inform business decisions. We’ll make sure this feedback is shared with the relevant team.

### ★☆☆☆☆ SCAM - Don't buy their "unlimited" plans, you won't get what you paid for!
- Слот Слотов · 2026-09-25

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with Ahrefs' customer support and their unfair, opaque restriction policies.

My workspace has 5 paid accounts, and two of them were abruptly restricted/blocked by their automated system. When I asked support (Julia) which exact terms of service were violated, they admitted that they do not have fixed numerical limits (like X requests per minute or Y reports per day) written in their Terms of Service. Instead, they hide behind vague phrases like "usage patterns exceeding typical user activity."

When I pointed out that my request rate averages out to roughly one click every 10 seconds (performed manually through the UI, perfectly fitting a normal human pace), they simply repeated automated bot-like responses. To make matters worse, they told me that even if I do not violate anything right now, the system will keep the account restricted for 1 to 2 weeks (essentially until the end of the billing cycle), and they refuse to lift it manually.

So, let's get this straight:

You advertise "unlimited access with no credit limits."

You penalize users for working fast or intensively, calling it "suspicious" even if it's completely manual.

You refuse to state clear rules or limits anywhere in your ToS so customers actually know what they are allowed to do.

You take people's money for paid subscriptions and leave accounts locked/restricted for weeks with zero manual support intervention.

This is essentially paying for a service and getting locked out because your internal automated heuristics feel like a user is working too efficiently. If you have a cap on how many reports an active SEO specialist can view per day on a standard plan, put it clearly in your pricing page instead of hiding behind arbitrary algorithmic bans.

Terrible experience, zero accountability, and daylight robbery of prepaid subscription days. Avoid if you actually plan on doing heavy SEO work.

> 商家回复 (2026-09-25): Hi, we’re sorry to hear about your experience.

Ahrefs’ unlimited plans don’t use credits for standard usage, but they are still subject to our fair use policy, as mentioned on our pricing page. Restrictions may be applied automatically when activity significantly exceeds typical human usage patterns, including unusually intensive activity over a short period of time.

These restrictions are temporary and are lifted automatically. They are not something our Support team can manually remove or override.

We appreciate you sharing your feedback with us and can assure you that we take it seriously. We use feedback like this to continue improving our systems, including how these restrictions are applied and communicated.

### ★★★★★ I’ve been using Ahrefs pretty much…
- Malina · 2026-09-03

I’ve been using Ahrefs pretty much every day for SEO work, and it’s one of those tools I’d genuinely struggle to replace.
Most of my time goes into Site Explorer, checking backlinks, competitors, lost links, and figuring out why certain pages are moving up or down. Keywords Explorer is useful too, but honestly, competitor research and backlink data are where Ahrefs saves me the most time.
The interface is straightforward once you get used to it, and I like that I can quickly jump from a domain to its top pages, keywords, anchors, or referring domains without digging through ten different reports.

It’s not cheap, and the credit limits can be annoying when you’re doing a lot of research. Some metrics also shouldn’t be treated as absolute truth, especially traffic estimates. But as an everyday SEO tool, it’s still probably the one I open most often.

Not perfect, but genuinely useful.

> 商家回复 (2026-09-14): Hi Malina,

Thanks for the thoughtful and detailed feedback!

We’re glad to hear Ahrefs has become a valuable part of your daily SEO work. We also appreciate your candid feedback on pricing, usage limits, and our metrics — it’s helpful to hear what works well and where there’s room for improvement.

### ★☆☆☆☆ Suspicious activity detected
- Sagar Tolani · 2026-05-26

I bought the 250 USD per month plan. It worked great for initial 10 days after that constant restrictions called "Suspicious activity". Support cant do anything from lifting the restrictions to telling why this is happening and when asked why they have their reasons ready. "We do not provide the specific reasons to avoid abuse of our tool." They let you talk to a bot initially, and even emails are replied to by bots, which is even more frustrating. From a month-long subscription,

I will not be able to use the tools for 2 weeks. Why? coz my usage is too much. They advertise the plan as unlimited. If you use it like it is unlimited, they ban you from using them.

I agree that there must be many people trying to misuse their service. They really need to work on their detection systems.

> 商家回复 (2026-05-27): Hello!

We’re sorry to hear about your experience.

Our abuse prevention systems are designed to protect both our platform and customers from unauthorized or high-risk activity. In some cases, restrictions may be applied automatically when certain patterns are detected. For security reasons, we’re unable to disclose the exact signals or triggers behind these decisions.

We understand this can be frustrating and we appreciate the feedback regarding both the detection system and support experience. Improving the accuracy of these systems while maintaining platform security is something we continuously work on.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

### ★★★★★ I've been an Ahrefs user for over two…
- David M · 2026-05-18

I've been an Ahrefs user for over two years, and it remains one of the most powerful tools in my SEO stack. In 2025 I had the opportunity to attend their conference in San Diego, and it genuinely blew me away. Not just the product, but the team behind it. The depth of knowledge their people bring, combined with a truly collaborative and educational approach, is rare in this industry.

I've noticed a wave of negative reviews tied to a pricing change, and I understand sticker shock is real. But I'd encourage people to zoom out. Ahrefs is clearly investing heavily in evolving their platform as AI reshapes the SEO landscape, and that kind of forward-thinking development costs something. The product I use today is meaningfully better than what I signed up for two years ago.

If you're serious about SEO and digital marketing, Ahrefs is still the gold standard. Don't let a pricing adjustment overshadow years of exceptional tooling and one of the most knowledgeable teams in the space.

> 商家回复 (2026-05-27): Hi David,

Thank you for the thoughtful review and for being a loyal Ahrefs customer.

We’re especially glad to hear you enjoyed the San Diego conference and had a great experience with the team. Building tools that help marketers succeed while continuing to evolve alongside the industry is something we care deeply about, so feedback like this truly means a lot.

We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at future meetups :)

### ★★☆☆☆ You cannot just print a page
- KK · 2026-05-01

You cannot just print a page - somehow they prevent that so you use looker studio for thousands of dollars of use a screenshot - very primitive from a useful point of view - you will spend hours trying to print page 2 of a pdf. I am frustrated enough to write this. They purposely made it that way and will not dispute this. I had to use a second service that lets me print simple reports. Funny - they impede the printing of a page to create reports. It's like they forgot what they do. Supposed to create reports.

> 商家回复 (2026-05-04): Thanks for sharing this — we understand how frustrating it is when something as basic as exporting or printing a report turns into a complicated process.

It would really help to know which specific report or workflow you were trying to print so we can look into this more closely and suggest a better way to get the result you need.

If you’re open to it, please reach out to our support team — we’ll do our best to help you resolve this without the hassle.

### ★☆☆☆☆ They will take your money then trottle…
- Daniel · 2026-04-22

They will take your money then trottle you so hard you can't make use of the credits you paid for.
Their bot is blocked everywhere so majority of bugs it will find are flase positives, then give your site a "health score" based om errors on their end.
Their keyword section is worse than what you can find for free. Stay away

> 商家回复 (2026-05-04): Hi Daniel,

We’re sorry to hear about your experience — that’s definitely not the impression we want to leave.

Ahrefs does not intentionally throttle accounts to prevent users from using their credits. Limits are in place to ensure fair usage and system stability, but they shouldn’t stop you from getting value out of your plan.

Regarding site audits and crawl data, our bot follows standard web crawling practices, and results can vary depending on how a website is configured (e.g., blocking rules, server responses, etc.). We’re continuously working to improve accuracy and reduce false positives.

We’d really appreciate the chance to look into your case in more detail — especially around the issues you mentioned with credits and audit results. If you’re open to it, please reach out to our support team so we can investigate and help resolve this.

### ★☆☆☆☆ Overpriced and increasingly unreliable
- Inter Cool Studio · 2026-04-14

I’ve been a paying Ahrefs user for a long time, 6 years or so, and unfortunately, I’m very disappointed with the value for money at this time.

Currently, the Lite plan is extremely expensive for what it actually includes, and many useful features are locked behind even more expensive tiers or extra credits. It feels like almost everything important requires another upgrade. Every single click costs you.

What frustrates me most is that the data often does not feel reliable enough to justify the price. I’ve used Ahrefs heavily for keyword research and content planning, but the results have often been poor.

Some keyword data feels outdated, and when you want fresher SERP data or more up-to-date insights, the answer is usually to pay more. Finally, I followed their data to create content, optimize everything, build backlinks and... no rankings, no traffic, no results. Nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

On top of that, the platform seems to have recurring technical issues. Right now, Ahrefs itself says: “We’re investigating an issue affecting some SERPs since late March, which may cause incomplete or unusual results and impact related metrics.” This kind of issue has happened too often, making it even harder to trust the tool when it is already so expensive. I mean, it happens every month. How can you monitor your progress if the tool/crawler/bot has an issue every 30 days?

Ahrefs may still work for some large teams with bigger budgets, but for me, it has become an overpriced tool with too many restrictions, too many upsells, and not enough dependable value in return.

Very disappointing, very. After 6 years of paying for it, I realized I had wasted so much money on it; I could have bought a house. And the most painful thing is that I couldn't scale my business because of its obvious inaccuracies and incorrect data lately.

Sorry guys, but your tool is not good as it was.

> 商家回复 (2026-04-17): Hi there,

Thanks for sharing your experience and for being an Ahrefs user for so many years.

We hear your concerns around pricing, data reliability, and recent SERP issues. At the same time, it’s important to clarify that Ahrefs is a data tool — not a guarantee of rankings or traffic. SEO results depend on many factors beyond keyword metrics, including competition, content quality, intent alignment, and overall strategy.

On data quality: we continuously invest in improving the freshness and accuracy of our index. The SERP issue you mentioned is real, and while it does not affect all data, our team has been actively working to resolve it as quickly as possible.

Regarding pricing and limits — our goal is to provide scalable access to one of the largest SEO datasets available. We understand that different users have different expectations of value, and we’re constantly refining how plans and usage are structured.

We appreciate the feedback and take it seriously.

### ★☆☆☆☆ Wee were blocked due to susupicious…
- Liam Cook · 2026-04-02

Wee were blocked due to susupicious activity, been over 2 weeks now. No warning nothing before the block, potentially a hack who knows they wont tell us. Won't even tell us if it's still happening after PW change. Still no access to account that we're paying £200+ a month for and whats to add is they say we gotta pay for it! Whilst we can't even use it. Support is absolutely useless

> 商家回复 (2026-04-17): Hi there,

We get how frustrating it is to suddenly lose access.

Restrictions like this are triggered automatically by our security systems when suspicious activity is detected. They’re designed to protect accounts from potential misuse and aren’t applied manually or arbitrarily.

While these restrictions can’t be lifted manually, our support team can explain what type of restriction was applied, why it may have happened, and how to avoid similar situations in the future.

### ★☆☆☆☆ Constant “Suspicious Activity” Errors – Service Unusable
- Den Denoff · 2026-03-31

I’ve been using Ahrefs for my SEO work, but lately it has become almost impossible to use.

I constantly get the error:
“Suspicious activity detected. Your usage activity indicates potential violations of our terms…”

The problem is that I am using the tool normally — no automation, no abuse — just regular SEO analysis. Yet access to reports keeps getting blocked for no clear reason.

This makes the service completely unreliable for professional work. You never know when you’ll be locked out again.

I contacted support multiple times, but instead of resolving the issue, they gave generic responses and did not fix anything. Even worse, they refused to provide a refund, despite the fact that the tool is essentially unusable.

For such an expensive service, this is unacceptable.

At this point, I cannot recommend Ahrefs to anyone who relies on стабильную работу инструментов. There are better alternatives that actually respect their users.

> 商家回复 (2026-04-17): Hi there,

We understand how disruptive it can be to run into repeated access issues.

“Suspicious activity” restrictions are triggered automatically when usage patterns match signals associated with potential misuse. These systems are designed to protect the platform and all users, and they don’t rely on a single action or manual decision.

While this can be frustrating, it doesn’t necessarily mean there was intentional misuse — only that certain activity patterns were flagged by the system.

Our support team can review the situation, explain what may be causing these triggers, and suggest how to avoid them going forward. They aren’t able to override these protections, but they can help clarify what’s happening.

### ★☆☆☆☆ DO NOT USE AHREFS.
- Jan G · 2026-03-23

DO NOT USE AHREFS.

Bunch of scammers. You sign up for a plan thinking you can do some keyword research but GUESS WHAT: It's credit based. Once you spend you measily 100 credits that cost $27. You're basically blocked from performing any meaningful action in the app. You CAN'T EVEN ACCESS THE LIST YOU MADE and have to either upgrade or wait for your monthly reset.

DO NOT USE AHREFS!

> 商家回复 (2026-04-17): Hi Jan,

Ahrefs uses a credit-based system on certain plans, including the Starter tier. The amount of included credits is clearly outlined before signup and reflects the cost of accessing large-scale data.

We understand this model won’t suit every workflow, but it’s designed to provide flexible access based on usage.

If you’re having trouble accessing your keyword lists, feel free to reach out to our support team — they’ll help you.
