First ride, there was some clacking of the plastic belt guards and felt very cheap - obviously it looks premium and expensive but doesn't feel that way. Okay, maybe it was my bad cause I didn't check if all the screws were tight like it says in the manual. No biggie so I screw them all tightly. 50km in, I ride across what is a smooth but tiled surface. And since between those tiles there are small gaps like cracks, the board couldn't handle them. It felt like hitting a wall each time I went over a small crack. Mind you these are very small cracks that with any other board I've tried almost feel unnoticeable. I can only assume that because of those "hard" hits from the cracks the board completely shut off mid-ride at that point. Got some F02 error on the remote and wasn't able to connect to the board again. Contacted the support, they said it's completely broken. I am very lucky and thankful this didn't happen at any other point during my commute cause my town is very hilly. Losing the brakes at some other point during my commute would have 100% ended up with me in the hospital. Regardless of the consequences and how lucky I was there should be a ZERO PERCENT chance of this happening. I sent it back and got a refund. But even before the board broke down I can say it's complete garbage and has a lot of issues which I honestly don't want to bother writing about - just don't listen to the 'promo code' shilling youtube reviews please. I would only recommend this board if you live in a place where every road is silky smooth and completely perfect which is nowhere, therefore I can't recommend it. I will avoid PROPEL products completely from now on and recommend you do the same. I would have put 2/5 just because I was able to get a refund and communicate normally with the customer support, but honestly it's not worth bumping up the rating cause they managed the bare minimum. They sent me a free replacement the first time but to have it happen to the exact same side again is weak. I would not purchase those brand again. Core component premature failure - Ryan Ruiz · 2026-04-15 I wanted to share my experience with Propel after owning their electric skateboard, because I think people should know what they’re getting into. I spent over $1,000 on a Propel board and after only ~55 miles of normal riding, one of the motors stopped working. After working with their support team and following all of their diagnostic steps — including fully disassembling the board and swapping 8 different motor connections — I confirmed that the issue was a failed controller (FOC). To be clear, this is a core component of the board. This isn’t wear and tear — this is a major failure after extremely minimal use. Despite providing proof and completing their entire troubleshooting process, Propel refused to replace the controller because it was outside of their warranty period by less than a week. Their only solution was to offer a small 10 % discount on buying a replacement part. So the reality is: If your FOC controller fails early, you’re on your own You’ll be expected to take the board apart yourself And then pay out of pocket to fix a major component That’s not what I would expect from a product at this price point. I gave them multiple chances to make this right, and they chose not to stand behind their product in a meaningful way. I’m sharing this so others can make an informed decision. Reliability and customer support matter — and based on my experience, Propel fell short on both in a big way The questions is, is 55 miles of riding your board worth $1000? For me the answer is no chance. I won’t be buying from them ever again. Warranty expired at 6months. which is not long enough for a $1,500 board. Propel was only willing to give me a 6% discount on a $192 part I had to replace myself. Board works again, but I can't recommend it after this failure. I would have been fine with 50% replacement cost, but they refused.Customer service is good and they have great how to videos. That said they should take better care of their customers when expensive parts go bad way too soon! I realize parts go bad, but don't make money off existing customers who must buy the replacement part! Takeoff in the first two modes are very smooth. Modes 3 & 4 get a little more risky. Very quick uphill. Extremely fast on flat surfaces (if you want it to be). Plenty of power on acceleration and upper end speeds. Highly recommend this board. Off road capable.
