Aspirin ( salicylate acid ) allergy
Aspirin is found in 95% of food plants. There are salicylate food charts by various hospitals and Salicylate websites with classification of different levels of salicylate but you have to take that with a inch of salt as each website have different opinions and you have to based it on your own experience. As my case is severe, l eat rolled oats, rice ( best sushi or cambodian as it has the lowest starch ) pears, pomegranate, papaya, chicken, eggs, beef and salmon ( with the skin removed, risk of contaminated salt), chives , basil, asparagus, pea, carrot and white cabbage. Though garlic has moderate level, l found it unsafe for me. I avoid sunflower oil as most commercial oil can have contamination, l use unsalted butter for cooking. Cashew and hazelnut have low level but l avoid cashew as it causes inflammation of my throat. l only eat Lindt dark chocolate as cocoa is low risk. l eat Schar gluten free bread as it does not contain corn as you will find in most bread. You can try white wheat bread provided it does not corn as it has high level of salicylate. Most toothpaste contain mint which is high in salicylate and long term use of baking soda toothpaste is not advisable. The only salicylate free toothpaste is Allfree from USA or Australia but it is often out of stock - £13/100g. Be creative and it’s amazing how many delicious food can you have even with limited diet. The diet improve sleep pattern and reduces anxiety. Best website is Insal. With elimination diet, it causes detoxing effect, brain fog and severe headaches and fatigue initially , so drink plenty water. Avoid coffee or tea, except chamomile tea.
