A great resource full of honest information for those dealing with myopia.
It all makes sense, all the evidence from people around me suggests that this is how the eye and eyesight deteriorating and improving works.
I have made incredible progress in reducing my myopia (confirmed by a dumbfounded optician) all thanks to Jake and his fabulous blog and website. His advice is sound, bringing steady improvements and cultivating good vision habits - and no angle other than helping others take control of their vision. In addition, this has been absolutely free of charge and all the guidance and resources I needed have been freely available on the website. I would highly recommend!
Every post is always an interesting read, and the best part is that nothing is mumbo-jumbo like other so-called myopia recovery methods. Simple, logical and straightforward. One little complaint though, that while it's true the free blog is not structured or guided in any way, it would be very helpful to have a single post with all the steps from start to finish with links to relevant articles on a specific point. Basically, the "Pro Topic: How To Reduce Prescription Complexity" post but extended with some more links here and there and more info on each step. Other than that, great site with awesome free tools. Cheers!
Jake Steiner and his website Endmyopia.org was for me the best source I could find in the internet to reverse myopia. I have already bought some books and attended 2 seminars for improving eyesight. Everything dealt with the Bates method, palming, strange eye exercises and the promise to reverse myopia within weeks or even some days. Furthermore, the seminars were quite expensive. Jake Steiner has a different approach that just resonates with me and sounds logical. He recommends to lower your prescription this far that you still can see quite clearly but at the same time give the eyes the opportunity to work which is called active focus. He does not recommend any eye exercises because people who have clear vision don't do it either. He rather gives the advice to change your habits like spending more time outside and looking in the distance. Jake does not make the promise to reverse myopia within weeks or days, because it just takes some time just as it took some time for your myopia to increase and get to this point where it is. Thank you Jake for your approach and having the guts to confront the optometry industry. Some personal notes on my eyesight. I had a prescription of -2.75 and am now wearing -1.25 and just waiting for my new -1.00 glasses. My improvement was within a period of maybe 3 years and even at this time I made mistakes like not wearing glasses at all. I still have to work on my habits but I strongly believe that Jake's approach is the way to go. Thank you Jake! Christian
The best source of information I've found about reducing myopia. You just need to dig through the website as it is not very organized.
It brought me a general idea on why my eyesight was getting worse over time now im able to control it by changing my daily habits since im new to this i dont see drops in my prescription but i will be patient to see if i can get 20/20 back
Another example that we already have information how to fix problems that most doctors think are unfixable.
Jake Steiner and the other contributors or endmyopia are doing a great thing. Without them, thousands of myopes would go on with their lives not knowing there was anything they could do to fix their vision, quite easily I might add. 90% of the material is free which just goes to show Jake actually cares about helping people. Endmyopia is just fantastic. Period.
This program has helped me understand how some of the things I was doing on a daily basis were straining my eyes and causing my vision to not improve and even slowly get worse. Shortly after getting glasses in 3rd grade I prayed there would be a way to not need them the rest of my life. Laser eye surgery came along but I did not want to take that risk. Now that I discovered Jake’s method I have noticed some improvement in my vision (Started out seeing 20/40-20/50 with -2.5 correction and now being able to see the 20/25 line with the same correction) and it has only been two months. I am looking forward to continued slow but steady improvements! It is also a relief to understand what actually causes myopia in the first place so I can prevent my children from having to deal with the annoyance of glasses or contacts and risk the health of their eyes. This information is all free and available to anyone who seeks answers on this site so what is there to lose?
I am so excited to finally find Endmyopia. I found lots of other info on the internet, but I didn't agree with the science theories and never could find good information to actually guide me in how to actually reduce my perscription (like numerically, HOW). I read a lot on Endmyopia, and it finally clicked. The science, the numbers, what to do and how to do it, and what not to do. I read about others with similar vision problems and made conservative adjustments to my glasses perscription along with better vision habits. I am on my 3rd set of glasses with a reduced perscription and have made major improvements already. I have low myopia and high astigmatism. Endmyopia isn't a quick fix with quick answers. You have to read, understand, and make changes to get results. And the results are life-changing! My vision is improving every day and I estimate to be completely glasses free within the next 3-4 months... Seriously! If you give Endmyopia an honest effort, you will see results.
I discovered Endmyopia.org about a year ago and haven't looked back since then. I have improved about 0.5 diopters, witch is good with my long hours at the computer and phone. Sometimes some doubt arises, but then I remember that it's not about fast improvement, rather it's time to reflect, change bad habits and just give yourself some time. I am very grateful to Jake for all the information he put online for everyone's benefit and would give him a big hug if I could. :) So if you are new here, start learning and improve your eyesight too!
I am grateful to Jake for providing this resource to help me take ownership of my eye health. If you are patient, thorough, and do the reading, this is a gold-mine. As Kelly Starrett does for myofascial health, Jake gives us tools to help understand our biology and take a crack at resolving our own lifestyle-imposed restrictions and limitations.
This program works. I got started down this path (inadvertently) by an eye doctor who was all about the minimum needed - even dropping my diopter so I could read more comfortably (with reading glasses). Jake takes this to the whole next level - for free! All I've spent so far is about $4 for a cheap tape measure and some super cheap glasses from Zenni.com. It's only been a few months for me, but when I'm consistent about not using my old contacts (which I have been for work travel), I see steady improvement. It's not an instant fix, but I'm sticking to it. I want to never have to use a contact again - I'm getting horrible red veins in my eyes from them!
I had an elderly ophthalmologist tell me with a perfectly straight face "there's nothing wrong with your eyes, you just need stronger glasses". This, as an answer to my grave concern over suddenly started, fast eyesight deterioration. At which point I decided they just haven't got a clue (but don't have the guts to admit it, the cowards!) and started my own research. By the time I found endmyopia.org, I had figured the connection between starting to wear glasses for close-up due and on-going deterioration, only didn't really know what to do about it other than stop making things much worse. Finding endmyopia.org in this situation was like finding the veritable pot of gold at the rainbow's end. The truth about myopia is kinda shocking but also blindingly (pun intended) obvious when you finally come across it. Since then, slowly closing in on being able to use the computer without glasses again. It's huge. Just don't expect any miracle cures overnight, it's a long road ahead. Endmyopia has a paid programme for a guided tour to getting your eyesight back, but the fundamental information - a wealth of it - is freely available. Which is just the way it should be: some like to DIY while others prefer paying others to help with the heavier lifting, you get to choose whatever works for you after assessing the situation based on the free information. It's actually not entirely unlike how the open-source software ecosystem works.
Love this! It's a bit hard to follow the blogs- but he's so knowledgable and helpful and selfless to let us freeloaders gain access to such invaluable information!!
Reading through other reviews, it is difficult to add something - people have provided much better/clear summary that I am capable of. In my view, there are two levels of what Endmyoipa.org is bringing, both of them in my pretty significant: 1) You can do something with your eyes (and myopia) - I have never asked myself this question before! Endmyopia.org made me to do my own peer-reviewed scientific literature search, which showed me that many things in this subject are actually scientifically proven! 2) Endmyopia.org shows you (OK, it is a bit difficult to extract the info out of it, but it can be done with some digging) how to improve your eye-sight. It gives a lot of great advices - none of them is a rocket science and once you read them, they feel so natural. I have been following it for 1.5 years so far and can confirm that this thing works (at least for me it does - I have dropped about 1.25 D in both of my eyes and this has been confirmed by an eye doctor). Jake looks like a sort of lunatic when going through Endmyopia.org. I thought I would give it a go as there was no other alternative for me (after visiting 2 optometrist, getting 4 pairs of glasses prescribed and struggling to see through any of them comfortably). Shortly speaking, every advice I tried has worked.
I have been looking information on experience using Bate's approach in last few years, until I found this website which - looking at people's experiences quite promising and practical. Also, lot of guides & concepts were discussed here and there by the author.
If you take your time and listen carefully to what Jake is teaching you, it all makes sense. He doesn't hand it to you on a silver platter, he wants you to understand the why's and how's (science) behind his methods. We are all different with different situations, so we have to figure out what is best for ourselves as individuals, just like everything in life. The best part is that he gives tips and tricks when he has figured out something new. Check it out, he gives more information than any eye doctor I know! Sometimes he'll even offer his services for a fee; lucky you!
