The actual cameras are good quality with solid features but this is POINTLESS without good stable software service and an easy way to set it all up. The whole HikVision ecosystem is so painful it’s an absolute dealbreaker. Only way is to use the cameras with third party NVRs like Synology etc. Go for RING or NEST if you can and side step the Chinase surveillance issues too.
Don't work properly
Absolutely terrible service. The cameras only work when they want to. When an intruder comes in, which I may add has been several times, with proof of items stolen, the cameras freeze or play a section of 3 minutes on a loop so it looks as though it's real time. The police don't believe that the cameras are freezing and required video evidence for a burglary. The app, based in Rotherham, Yorkshire does not work properly and often forgets my password, even though I know it. The cameras are connected to the local hospital and when the computer at the hospital malfunctions, my cameras also reboot only when the hospital has fixed the issue. The cameras also stop when the NowTv 63 WiFi networks are intercepted by the SAS secret service retired neighbours intruding into my privacy along with the FBI agent in the US. When I called the engineer that installed the system, he said the only person that could hack this system was the Military or Secret Services. I am very disappointed because I keep calling the engineer who installed it and he never calls me back to fix the issue. The police recommended I installed a CCTV system to catch the people that were abusing me because I had no proof. It's been a waste of money.

Products work when they work, how they work, thats it... DON'T expect ANY support from hikvision. This is is cheap, chinese import stuff with zero support. I've got 70+ cameras and if you just want bulk standard cameras paired with a decent NVR software like Milestone, its ok. Need something more expert like ANPR integration then i'd recommend a product with decent support.

Used to work great, after the latest update it is garbage that rarely works and hid and zoom on the updated app is pathetic and choppy! Save your money! Buy anything else!
Excellent quality product.
I have installed many Hikvision systems and compared to others out there on the market, Hikvision is the best out there. The main issues arise when people buy Hikvision cameras from an unauthorised distributor. Genuine Hikvision products can only be purchased by trade and not the end user. Get your Hikvision cameras installed by a registered certified Hikvision installer and you'll find you will not have any issues. So many on here are complaining about remote viewing issues, that issue is purely down to who your ISP is and your Internet connection speed. I don't have any issues with the UK customer support I get from Hikvision, they are always willing to help if needed.
Pray you never need tech support
US Hikvision tech support is the worst. Wriiten requests just refer you to phone support. Having to wait 45-60 mins on hold is bad enough, but the advice you ultimately get is bad. The tech personnel are tired and incompetent. Pray you never need tech support from them.
Good Cameras, bad app.
Cameras good and the picture quality is great, even at night and we have no street lighting. Just a few down lights on the houses. The App though is awful, hard to use, doesn't work half the time and the cameras aren't visible. This is for IOS for Android. IOS is better than Android but still temperamental and inconsistent.

These bad reviews simply are not true. I've installed thousands of Hikvision cameras......I have not had A SINGLE WARRANTY CLAIM. I only install Hikvision because their products are more reliable especially in harsh environments, like Australia. I suspect a great deal of these bad reviews are generated by Netgear as their products which are crap are spammed by 5 star reviews. Just pick up a Hik camera versus most other brands and you will know straight away that these are the goods. I feel like every single negative review here is fake.
Extreme poor browser-support. Playback is almost useless.
Hikvision DS-2CD2185fwd-IS EXTREME poor browser-support. It's hard to believe they never noticed there is HTML5 in 2021. You need to install an obscure driver to get things working in your browser. No Linux-support! Really??? Sometimes you can't use the buttons for controlling the cam because the video is shifted to the right lower corner. The SSH-Shell (busybox) is stripped from all useful tools (even ls, cd and vi is removed) so you can't fix anything. Software is plain garbage. It took me a week to get used to the interface somehow. I needed help with about every page. The playback function is useless unless you like to spend hours to view back a few scenes. Calender is not working. Setting are in very unlogical places. (try to find the on/off switch for your IR-leds) I NEVER buy this product again. And I suggest if you read this, you do the same and buy something else.

Ok where to start I called hikvision to get a camera system set up on my farm, had a guy come out took a walk round right he said give me 24 hours I'll send you a quote happy days off he pops, 24 hours later in comes my quote for 6 normal cameras and 1 ball camera 200m of cable with installation , it came in at £8,500. When we looked at the price of the cameras themselves and all the bits I found the whole system only came in at £3,500. Being abit confused I phone up the company and asked how long it would take to install this, thinking it may take a few days which is why the labour is so high, but I was told the whole lot would be installed in 1 day. So to me this was over £4000 labour charge. I brought the system and decided to get it installed myself by a very good friend who is an electrician, when I finally phoned them and said I just want the system and cables on there own, I was asked how I was going to put these up to which I replied I was doing it myself, they laughed on the phone and said good look with that these systems are a pain unless you know what you are doing. I have looked at the other reviews on these and every person puts down that the camera system is terrible, I can tell you the friend that did this for me had never done this before and had never crimped wires for cctv systems before, but my camera system has now been up 6 months and I haven't had one fault with it, everything works as it should, and my ball camera itself will happily zoom in up to 5 acres away and give me clear vision day or night, after using some of the best nightvison scopes in the world whilst hunting, these cameras are much better once you get the system set right, hikvision are just charging people way to much money and sending people out they haven't got the knowledge to actually install these things properly, you are better off ordering the system and doing it yourself, you will probably find that you will have alot less glitches, as for the camera system I have to five it 5 stars, if you can watch deers 6 acres away and zoom in on their faces with no problem in the middle of nowhere then there is nothing wrong with the cameras the problems lie with the employees of hikvision
I've just had the Hikvision camera…
I've just had the Hikvision camera system installed professionally and I'm really pleased with the result. I did express my concerns to the installer after reading the reviews on here but he assured me that they are quality cameras and they have been using Hikvision products for a number of years. The quality of the image is excellent and very easy to use and understand. I have the box wired to a monitor at home and the remote access from my phone is a breeze. I can only speak of my own experience and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this camera system to anyone 👍
I had this system fitted in 2017 constantly problems
I had this system fitted in 2017. Did not expect problems with the system after a few months. Poor connection, wires loose ( obviously poor shoddy fitting by the fitter) I had to call someone back to tidy up all the messy wires and re configure the system..so complicated. Since fitting I have always had either one camera down or in black & white. The actual devic box has no light to indicate if on or off. It only takes a slight knock nudge of the box and a camera will go down. I have had to call someone out four times to try sort the problem. Each time this only seems to be temporary fix and the fault reappears. Approx £700 I paid. I now know for sure there are better cheaper and more reliable systems out there than Hikvision but fell for the spiel if the fitter who recommended it. I was told I might need new cameras.....surely they have a longer life span than 3yrs at approx £80 a camera. My advise don't buy.

All in all really painful
All in all really painful. We installed an intercom system which has been intermittently unreliable from new. Talking to the technical support is difficult. I’m writing this review now because I just tried again to submit a technical enquiry and surprise surprise there website wont allow me to submit a query how convenient, not! The system would nearly work but in practice isn't user friendly, there website likes to talk about AI etc etc but they haven’t got the basics right in my opinion.

Been installing these camera systems through my business for years and my customers absolutely love them!! Fantastic quality, functionality and durability. All these negative reviews are from people trying to install these systems themselves which is not advised as they are not diy self install systems. Hikvision only sell to distributors so if you have a professional company who will professionally install the system for you I guarantee you will love it. Ignore these silly comments from people frustrated because they don’t have the necessary training to carry out the installation properly. The installation engineers who install these systems for companies all over the world have had extensive training on how to install and set up the nvr machine.

I have installed hundreds if not thousands of hikvision cameras with very very few problems. Most people posting here are individuals, Hikvision do not sell cameras to individuals only to disributors You would not ring Ford about you car problems you ring a Ford dealer. Many stupid statements like Hikvision make their cameras to not work out of the box prove the people dont read the manual, as to make them more secure Hikvision cameras do not come with a default password (because people are lazy and do not change it leaving their systems insecure) If you had a system installed you should contact the installer not the manufacturer it is a commercial product.
Playback is intermittent.
I had a local installer provide me with two DVRs in different buildings and 8 cameras in total, and they included setting it all up on my iphone, ipads etc... First of all, it cost an insane amount of money, but as it worked well and playback was good etc... I didn't mind paying for good quality. Over the last year, however, things have gone downhill. Sometimes the playback works and sometimes it doesn't. It can be working from one DVR on my phone and not the other, or neither of them at all. It sometimes works from inside the house and sometimes not. If I fiddle about opening and closing the app and trying different routes into playback, then sometimes it will start working. However, this is not consistent, and I have to go upstairs and use the telly where the main DVR is to get any sort of robust playback. Considering the huge amount of money spent on this system and its installation, I am disappointed and would not recommend. If you want to fix it, like others, you need to give them every number and specification known to man, just to get some technical guru to fail to respond to your emails, and frankly you know its going to start happening again so whats the point. HV and Apple are clearly not compatible.
