评价综述

AI 生成

Reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers frequently highlight the smooth onboarding process, highly flexible working hours, and incredibly supportive project managers who always provide clear guidance during daily tasks. People really appreciate the regular weekly payouts and the amazing opportunity to collaborate on interesting and innovative artificial intelligence projects. However, some customers also noted recurring issues regarding delayed compensation, missing bonuses, or unexpected payment delays after finishing their assigned projects. A few other people also felt that the overall lack of job security and sudden project endings made it quite difficult to maintain stable work over time.

Mercor is the Place to Be

Mercor is a fantastic company to work with! The opportunities, when they come, are associated with competitive pay, which includes onboarding. That’s something I have never seen before in my time as an independent contractor. There are projects where communication with contractors is effective and times where it slips through the cracks. Otherwise, happy to co to use working with Mercor as an independent contractor!

Caution Required

Approach any pay-per-task contract with extreme caution. I had completed a couple of Mercor contracts that paid a satisfactory hourly rate so when a pay-per-task contract was offered, I was interested in joining the project. During onboarding, the expectation was set for initial task to take 8-9 hours but the parameters of the project were not clearly defined and a primary objective was to achieve a high degree (50%) of model failure. Mercor eventually realized how unrealistic the timeframe was and adjusted the pay structure but after working on 2 tasks, and having reviewers say they were on the right track, tasks were discarded and I received zero compensation for almost 6 weeks of work on this project. (Project Keystone) Note - Company initially stated the goal was to have 1000 tasks approved by early July. It is nearing the end of July, subject matter experts have struggled to get tasks approved and barely over 500 tasks over 5 domains have been approved. After giving them over 100 hours of my time, I feel like I was conned into providing free training for their AI model.

Matched with a project through Mercor

Matched with a project through Mercor, but the background check took a while and the client ended up pulling out before I even got started. So no work, no pay, annoying, but honestly not something I could control. The one thing that stood out was the project manager. They actually kept me in the loop the whole time, even when it was clear things were falling apart on the client’s side. Doesn’t always happen with these platforms, and it’s why I’d still give Mercor another shot.

A good way to apply expertise to emerging AI growth trends

I like that the process is structured and lends itself to being a self-starter. Opportunity for improvement in the experience is available on the back-end of things (such as credential set-up/validation, google account vs Mercor-specific emails being autogenerated etc..)

Two, no three benefits of AI training

I found the training useful in two ways. First it showed me that AI is already amazing. Second it inspired me to upgrade to a paid subscription to ChatGPT plus. I use it to cut my time and expenses in half for my retirement book selling. Mercor training paid me as an Energy/Utility Expert, but the project was cancelled. I received the $300 for training but was not able to work in the project. I am taking more assessments to keep learning more about AI training and to keep my 75-year old brain active.

Best of the AI project companies, good for supplement, not as main income

Nearly all of the project managers and support staff that work directly with Mercor (referring to the humans, though the AI bots are fine) have been great, better than most humans. They are understanding about human circumstances and about how the nature of their projects can sometimes conflict with more predictable, routine work. The pay is good, gets distributed like clockwork weekly, and is almost always hourly as opposed to other AI projects that pay only for approved tasks. My only major criticism is that a large number of the projects are unreliable. There will be a major initial push like, "GO GO GO clear your schedules for 40 hours a week!" That is common in tech, but as a contractor, when they realize that the platforms or algorithm , or...whatever is not performing as anticipated, suddenly you will have days and weeks with nothing. So you've cleared your schedule anticipating work/income that doesnt come. Sometimes the projects resume, sometimes they don't. And, as is the nature of these types of projects, it is nearly impossible to accurately predict if, and when, the projects will resume. The clients will tell the Mercor project managers that everything will be functioning asap, but they do not actually know what the bugs are, and as they dig they find more and more layers that need to be fixed for us to be able to effectively create or test. Even still, I think they are the best of the AI companies. You just have to hold it really loosely. As in, I would not count on it as a main source of income. But as a supplement, they are great.

The ability to work on my own schedule…

The ability to work on my own schedule made it possible to provide quality work to Mercor. I wasn’t required to work 40 hours on top of my normal 40 hour day job. There is great transparency from EPMs, but in order to succeed, you need to able to follow instructions. Weekly payouts are nice as well.

AI intelligence is freelance 1099 work…

AI intelligence is freelance 1099 work and has a unique daily schedule. I enjoy the flexibility and learning more about AI. There are many different projects available and they are loaded into a system at various times of the day and night by clients and I select a project to complete. The training is excellent and requires patience because the tech community culture is fast paced and demands constant vigilance to project updates. I enjoy the work and learning new skills.
