I have applied for more than 200 projects through Mercor, but unfortunately I have received only one project. I believe I have strong skills and the ability to deliver high-quality work, so it is very frustrating to put in so much effort and receive so few opportunities.
The application process could be much more transparent. It would be helpful to understand why applications are rejected and what specific skills or criteria are being considered when selecting candidates. Talented and qualified applicants should have a fair chance to demonstrate their abilities.

They are inconsistent, make you jump through a million hoops, then cancel projects before you can even begin them. I had that happen twice in a row. Wouldn't recommend working with them.
No human contact whatsoever, Automated everything.
I was offered an immediate contract and have now been in an onboarding loop for two weeks. I was asked to provide passport and submit an official criminal record check to another company which also operates solely with AI. There is no human support at all. There is an automated "onboarding email sequence" that gets activated whether or not anything has been approved or enabled. I am receiving emails daily that I cannot respond or react to because I have not been issued the necessary passwords. Additionally the content of the emails is CLEARLY standardised. For example: I was offered a position for 7 hours a week (which I have never been able to work, because I have not been granted access). Then I received email stating I should complete the practice task on the digital timer (which I cannot access, because I don't have the password, which I have requested numerous times) and then my contract will be opened for 40 hours per week. Now I just got email reducing my load to "3 hours per hour". What? It can't even get that right: 3 hours per week. And my criminal record check is still processing and I still don't have access to anything. I have requested to be put in touch with a supervisor or human contact in almost every response email I have sent. Nothing. And here as well: no responses to any reviews or complaints. Very bad.
Most likely a scam providing fake work opportunities so people work for free for their platform. They are not the only one. A few clues:
- You enter all personal details but then the email you use to provide work is someone else's email
- I completed several hours of work. I could save the work but could not submit it. There is a technical glitch... I am pretty sure they received it and will leverage it for their project. I was promised a bonus for completing the assessments on top of normal pay.
- They reach out on Saturday morning at 8am. When you ask them if they know about your location, they say they don't, which is odd as I gave them all my data.
Some might feel desperate for work which is exactly what they are looking for. 101 of the scam industry.
This company supposedly offers jobs training AI, but it's very unreliable. They collect personal information, offer no human support for any issues, and only provide generic, automated responses. If you have any problems, no one will look into them. They also change their terms and conditions frequently without notifying users. Overall, it's a bad experience, and I'm not giving it one star because I can't be sure it's a scam, but it's a platform I highly don't recommend.
However, after my initial project was completed and approved, I did not receive any further projects. So, while my experience with the payment and approval process was positive, I was disappointed that there were no further project opportunities afterward.
Mercor offered a paid work trial (paid within 7 to 14 days). 21 Days later they wrote me claiming that I used AI in my submission and so would not be paid for my work. I did not us AI, they have offered no proof or evidence.
I would not recommend working with them.
I do like the flexibility they offer, however they do not care about their freelancers at all.
They will send you a contract and communicate deadlines, then change it in one week or not communicate at all. They are a very immature and unprofessional organization with very poor leadership.
Do yourself a favor and do not engage with this company.
Challenging Work with Seamless Processes and On-Time Pay
Working for Mercor has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The projects were both challenging and deeply meaningful, allowing me to gain valuable new knowledge throughout the process. I highly appreciated that they provided clear, structured instructions for every task, which made execution seamless. Additionally, compensation was always delivered on time, reflecting their professionalism and respect for contractors. Overall, I am very happy with my time at Mercor and confidently recommend the platform to others looking for impactful opportunities.
The teams were very supportive, and any issues were quickly solved, including doubts involving payment. The tasks we take during onboarding are paid. The onboarding process is clear and based on how you apply the guidelines in a real task, not just a quiz. The guidelines are clear, and we can solve our doubts immediately. They effectively use channels on Slack to keep the communication flow.
They require endless AI interviews and, after all that offer 1/2 going rate for expert platforms. They call and text in late evenings and even weekends, and I have heard they are just using interviews as an AI training session.
Mercor is a great company to work with, I have now worked on multiple projects and had good experiences in all of them. Payment is always prompt, and I value that they pay you for training time and onboarding. Overall, the company is professional and I appreciate the remote working opportunities they've given me.
The work environment is the best! Very flexible hours and easy understanding of the projects cz of the best project managers! I love to work with Mercor.
