I wrote a positive review earlier but this company has really shown me that some really struggle with operations and service. Initially my formula had key ingredients that worked really well for me and they were taken out just by chance. There was no strategy here. They replaced a retinoid with azelaic acid and also removed other anti inflammatory ingredients. I used the new formula and my skin broke out like crazy. There was no communication about the new formula , why they changed it, and I had not updated my quiz so there shouldn’t have been any major changes. Just think they don’t know what they are doing and messed up and didn’t make it right at all when I gave them the opportunity. The customer service agent was so incompetent and couldn’t answer questions so I just gave up. I highly recommend not wasting your money here. I worry the sunscreen wasn’t reliable too.
Too irritating & dismissive customer service, save your $$!
I wanted to try this product line after experiencing a slight increase in breakouts and felt that my routine wasn't helping. I find it so strange that, unlike Curology, another custom skincare subscription, they NEVER ask for photos of the client's skin. The formulation was so irritating despite my efforts to reduce my use to applying every other day/twice a week. The "retinol" they use is quite suspicious as I wasn't able to find any information online about it according to its name. And so I broke out horribly along my neck and down my jaw which NEVER happens. Customer service claimed it was "purging" but it was so bad I was too scared to continue. How does someone purge after 2 MONTHS of using a non-prescription product? While I'm no doctor, my gut feeling was to stop using it. During my 2 months of using it, customer service never offered to reformulate, told me to wait it out, and just sent the generic copy&paste description of what the product does. They did nothing to help assuage my stress about the state of my skin nor offer any alternate solutions. I'm back on Curology again and am hopeful I can get back to normal after this stressful experience.
This company was horrendous to work with. Their products are "backed by science" but the only thing they offer is a reformulation. If you truly believed in your product, they would offer a money back guarantee. I would occasionally break out around my time of the month and it would leave scars. I decided to try Proven Skincare and within days of using their product, my face broke out with PAINFUL cystic acne. I haven't experienced break outs like this since HS! I tried reaching out to their customer service, and the only thing they offered was a reformulation. The reformulation didn't do much for me either. I couldn't tell if it caused me to break out more, or if my breakouts were form their original formulation. Threw is away. What a waste of $110.00.
I started using the products in April 1st and it’s in the middle of June now, there is no improvements whatsoever. I noticed within the first 5 weeks there was no improvement and so I messaged PROVEN about this and they ‘adjusted’ the next formula that came through but the was no improvement in my skin when I began to use the second set. When you buy most products, you have in mind that it could be a hit or miss because everyone’s skin is different. But that shouldn’t apply to PROVEN because they are marketing to us products that is unique to your skin. They did not deliver. I want a refund
Their 130$$$ products don’t seem to be any good. Tried them for two months and extremely regret it. I have acne like never before. I attempted to get a refund before my second shipment was created or sent and they refuse to give a refund. It’s a scam.
I’ve been using Proven for a few months (second shipment) and the changes are very subtle. The customer service is phenomenal. I felt seen and responded to. I’m just not sure if the product can walk the walk yet.
They ruin your face and steal your money.
Both me and my sister ordered from Proven and we both have different skin concerns, both of us had major breakouts. We reached out to customer service and they said to keep using their products and they won’t give us a refund. We kept using them but it just got worse.
After a couple months my face is still ruined thanks to their ineffective products.
By the way, all beauty brands use computer science and data collection to source and create skincare products. This company does nothing new. I am a black software engineer myself and wanted to support fellow POC in STEM but after this experience and their rude staff, I’d never support them again.
Deceptive billing, customer service and product formulations
While the products did seem effective, I was fed up after being told that clicking on the button labeled Get Your Formulations, per customer service,"creates a duplicate subscription and order and you will continue to get double orders until we catch it in our system."
In other words, you double your order without knowing it, and they make double the money, leaving you with a huge pile of products that will expire long before you could use it all. Not only that, they didn't catch double-subscription issue, I did, and there was no offer to make things right (for example, offering a refund).
When I simply asked for shipments to halt, I was told they can't do that. Also, it seems the next shipment would have been free (as a result of being a member for over a year), so that's some interesting timing as well.
It was also suspicious that my formulations as listed remained nearly identical from shipment to shipment, but the color, texture and scent varied VERY widely... which makes me seriously doubt that I was getting the consistent "personalized" formulations advertised.
I love the idea of customized skincare that's reformulated with the seasons. I have had a rough start with the skincare though. I love the simplicity of three pieces. I love the customizations. I haven't seen results yet, but I think only more time will tell.
I like Proven because it’s easy to use, no extra toners needed. As far as resolving my skin care issues, it’s just ok. I’m three months in and I haven’t noticed any improvements in my acne, wrinkles, or dry skin. Overall, it’s a little pricy for the very minimal results
The products seem to make my skin softer. However, I still have the same problems with continuous acne breakouts that cause scarring. I have used the products for about three months and saw no improvement in my acne. I am now thirty-five years old. I paid for these products because retinoids and antibiotics didn’t get rid of my acne. I am ready to just give up and accept that I will die with acne and scars all over my face.
I hate to give bad reviews, but I need to share this in case it helps someone.
I got chemical burns from the night cream. My face was red and swollen for weeks. It hurt and it was really embarrassing to tell others this happened because of expensive skincare.
The customer service rep didn’t let me return the creams and refused to give me my money back. According to them, my skin is just too sensitive and I need to get my face warmed up to their products since I’m new to skincare.
As if I’d risk burning my skin off again to entertain that theory. They have zero liability.
At least now my friends and family know not to trust Proven, there are safer and cheaper options out there.
I had high hopes. But the daytime moisturizer is very tacky, almost sticky, in texture. I have dry skin, and there was nothing moisturizing about this formulation. I use moisturizers with sunscreen all time -- they simply don't have to be as gummy as Proven's formula. Then there's the night cream, which smells like rancid eggs. My husband agreed it was hard to ignore. If you have dry, sensitive skin, there are much better products on the market than this stuff, which is hugely overpriced for its quality. It's all packaging and branding, not the real deal. Don't be fooled, friends. Customer service was also nonexistent.
Total scam!!! If if you cancel membership they continue charging you. There is no phone # to contact. All communication via email and unhelpful and rude Product also smells horrible.
Very unhappy with customer service but totally love the product. I asked for a replacement for the day cream as the pump was broken and I had to open the jar
And use a stick to get the cream out. I was told that I ruined the product and used way too much. Haha. There was only 1 inch of cream in a 8 inch pump jar! And they want me to pay another $55 to replace. Too bad. Really lovely product. They need to work on service!!
I paid $119 on 3/10/2021 and never received my product. I have requested my refund but since their package is lost in transportation they are penalizing me for it and indicated they would not refund me until they get their product back. They can clearly track that I never received this. Today I filed a BBB complaint to see if I can get this money back. Their rating on BBB is 1.5 out of 5 starts with an "F" rating as their scorecard.
