2026-06-07Thank you for taking the time to write this. I read every review we get, and I take them to heart, because the entire point of what we do is to keep getting better at helping people through some of the hardest stretches of their lives.
I’m sorry if our way of doing it made you feel this way. That isn't the outcome any of us wanted, and my door is still open. If you ever want to talk it through or clarify how we could have done better, you know how to reach us!
I want to respond honestly and fairly, both for you and for anyone else reading. So before saying anything, I went back through all of our interactions with this client to make sure I had the timeline and actual events right.
First, regarding the claims on our high-pressure onboarding process. We never want anyone to feel pressured into joining, so before you signed up, you & my team spent six free calls together, all scheduled around your own availability, without us pressuring you to book your next call with us. At the time, you mentioned how much those early conversations helped and that you were genuinely excited to get started. My team even asked you during the final call if this was something you really wanted and offered the option to sleep on it and have another call if there was any hesitation.
I know one of your concerns was that the program felt generic for what you put into it. I hear that. What I'd gently point out is that the first four modules you went through are really just the welcome and foundation material. They're the front door, not the whole house. The deeper work lives in the latter parts of the program, in the five live group calls each week, and the support our team offers around the clock. Our material is continually updated, and we invest heavily in collaborating with therapists, researchers, and neuroscientists, so the methods don't go stale and remain at the cutting edge.
You also felt the program wasn't built for complicated situations, and I understand why it can feel that way early on. But complex is honestly most of what we do. Of the 23 people who started around the same time as you, 17 have reconciled so far, and none of those stories were simple. They involved infidelity, mixed orientations, shaky boundaries, and a lot of emotional upheaval. Over the last eight years, we've worked through close to 3,600 cases, and very few of them looked anything like "standard."
Regarding the tone of the coaching, over the last 3 years, you shared 7 posts, and our coaches and members have provided more than 40 detailed replies to support you. You didn't make it to the live calls, which is often where the real momentum builds. Early on, you actually said our ideas around "tetheredness" and mindset put a finger on the real weak spots in the relationship, which meant a lot to us.
I also want to clarify our philosophy because it's easy to misread. When we talk about taking "100% responsibility for your 50%," we are never blaming you for what your partner did. It's never about placing faults. We're trying to keep your focus on the parts you can actually move, because that's where change happens. We push back hard against people beating themselves up, what we sometimes call the self-flagellation trap, because it stalls everything.
Toward the end, in February 2024, your coaches and many other members in your cohort did challenge you, gently but directly, about why some of the foundational pieces still felt stuck eight months in. That kind of honesty is part of the job, even when it isn't comfortable to hear. You decided to step away about a month later, in March 2024.
The heart of coaching is helping people see their blind spots and walk through breakthroughs that don't always feel good in the moment. That is always the hardest part about my job as a coach - how to tell people what they NEED to hear, which often goes against what they WANT to hear.
