Very Disappointed – Product Did Not Work as Advertised
I purchased a Road Top CarPlay/Android Auto interface for my 2017 Mercedes GLC 300, and unfortunately the experience has been extremely disappointing.
After installation, the unit had numerous problems. Bluetooth connectivity was unstable, especially when two phones were present. Audio through Spotify would skip and stutter, phone call quality was terrible with severe echoing, the system would randomly shut down or reboot, and the interface was slow and sluggish.
I spent considerable time troubleshooting the unit, and the installation instructions and video provided by Road Top were not very helpful. I ultimately had to use a competitor’s installation video to properly complete the installation.
After determining that the unit simply did not perform as advertised, I requested a full refund. Even though I was returning the product because of performance and operational problems—not because I changed my mind—Road Top still expected me to pay the return shipping costs.
I have returned the unit with tracking and am currently awaiting my full refund.
Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that potential buyers carefully review this company’s return policies and customer reviews before purchasing. A product that does not function as represented should not result in the customer having to spend additional money simply to return it.
Worst possible CarPlay kit you could buy for a BMW or other car otherwise. Like many of the unfortunate souls here, I was tempted to buy one because they are the CHEAPEST devices available and ship out very fast.
THAT IS FOR A REASON!!!!!!! They specifically target people who really do not understand how sensitive the audio system on these cars can be nor care about the quality of the display.
Upon installation I was met with the WORST display quality I have EVER seen on a vehicle. My 2008 Mercedes had a better screen than this product. I am not kidding.
It did not stop there. I proceeded to connect the aux cable into the vehicles aux port and was presented with absolutely abysmal audio quality.
I'm not an audio snob. Far from it. However the audio quality after installing this on my BMW E90 335i was reduced by roughly 40 percent. Adjustment of the audio settings made no difference.
The connection was poor. CarPlay video quality... Also poor.
I attempted to contact roadtop to return it. Upon doing this they promised me a return label.
Three hours later, I check aliexpress again and they blocked me and proactively issued me a $20 dollar refund.
What this did was basically stop me from imputing a complaint/dispute leaving me stuck on the phone with my credit card company for 30 minutes trying to reverse the charge.
60 days later my bank informed me I lost the dispute because roadtop showed them proof of a refund... The $20 dollar refund.
None of this was worth "saving money". Not the horrible headunit. Not the agony or stress. Nothing.
I tried to use it since I was stuck with it and guess what... IT WENT FULLY BLACK 13 DAYS LATER!
I ended up buying a "BimmerDirect" kit from the Taiwanese and can NOT even begin to tell how much of a better experience and product that has been.
Roadtop needs to be shut down IMMEDIATELY!
DO NOT EVEN BE TEMPTED to purchase anything from Roadtop. I purchased a carplay kit and it dod t work right. They wanted to charge me to send out another one, but instead I just uninstalled the faulty one and returned it. Waited 4 weeks and no refund. 6 weeks later I still have no refund and no product. They refuse to return my messages and emails. SCAMMERS
I buy a screen and been requesting a link to track my purchase and until now nothing,no product or link to track the my purchase. Im starting to think hou reliable is this company....
I purchased a BMW X3 display from eBay UK, believing I was buying directly from the manufacturer because the seller was listed as “Road Top Official Store”.
After the purchase, I contacted Road Top using the official contact details on their website to ask about software updates. I received the following response:
“I’m sorry, my friend, we do not support after-sales service from third-party platforms.”
This is extremely misleading. The use of “Official Store” clearly creates the impression of an authorized or direct manufacturer account, yet the company refuses any support and distances itself from purchases made through that channel.
This is not transparent and feels deliberately deceptive. Customers are being misled into believing they are buying directly from the official source, only to be denied basic after-sales support afterward. Completely unacceptable. Avoid this Seller!!!!
Was scammed by these people on AliExpress recently for a BMW screen. It took 5 months to get my money back. They sent us an extremely poor quality screen that worked for all but maybe 9 days. We contacted them via AliExpress. The seller urged us to not make a claim. Roadtop then blocked us from all communications.
We raised it to AliExpress and they accepted it as a dispute. After doing this, they demanded we return it to China AT OUR OWN EXPENSE. We paid $70 dollars to return a $200 dollar screen.
Mind you roadtop said "they have a warranty" and this was within the "return period". YOU CAN NOT MAKE THIS UP! IT IS FRAUD!
There are better alternatives out there and we went with a Taiwanese company that took care of us even years after. We only bought the roadtop one because we thought we were out of luck. Luckily we weren't but the whole experience with RoadTop was just absolutely scammy.
Ordered a product from them and the buying and sending to me process itself went all fine, I got the product and the product didnt fit my car and that was unlucky i guess that can happen to anyone.
But the problem is when returning the item.......
I asked them directly what address do you want me to send the item to and what email and phone number they use so they can get a notification when it arrives. I got a message from the postal office that the package have arrived where its supposed to, just to confirm to them i sent them a message that the unit has arrived and they needed to pick it up within a week.
On the last day they could pick it up they tell me they dont want to go and pick it up........
They ask me to contact their local post office to delay it, which this is not in my country and i dont speak the language so i told them they could do it since they are the ones that wouldnt want to pick it up and that they speak the language. The response was that it was my problem not theirs.
Now the package will be sent back to my country and i need to pay a fee to get it back.
For everything in my life i wouldnt recommend them and have called local authorities to classify both them and aliexpress as a scam in my country.

Got various prices but the cheapest was Roadtop, I must say the service was brilliant, super fast delivery and the instructions were brilliant super easy to understand and there was a video to download for every step
Absolutely horrible. They probably sell a lot of devices because they're the cheapest but I had to find out first hand why that's the case.
Two months in with their device and it fails. I contact them politely to claim the "warranty"... GUESS WHAT! THEY BLOCK ME!
I try to email them and they finally send me another device. The device arrives with a broken screen and obvious scratches all over.
At this point I was mind blown. I request to send both back for a refund. Blocked again.
The devices are trash quality and they have a lot of bots that routinely are promised compensation for good reviews. Not to mention the sea of guys with clapped out BMWs who are happy with these cheap things for a month but are too prideful to admit when they fail.
After all of this they have the audacity to offer me a 3$ refund to leave them a review? You gotta be kidding me.
Terrible. Bought one of these before purchasing another competitors item. The BimmerDirect MMI ended up being far superior and although they are Asian also they could actually speak English, provide instructions, etc. unlike roadtop.
The build quality of the roadtop MMI and screens shows you exactly why they're the cheapest. I'm convinced that they make these to con Americans/Europeans that are too uneducated to do research.
Do yourself a massive favor and get the BimmerDirect or Mr12Volt devices. Those companies are ALSO Asian but ions better.
It literally makes no sense to "save" $100 when you'll be forced to buy another device again when this stuff fails or when you realize it's abysmal. That's poor people logic and if that's how you think you have no business driving a BMW.
Oh yeah: Don't believe the good reviews. They tried paying me to write a good review.
I genuinely tried giving them a chance but once they refused to return the horrible product within the return period... They lost all favors.
Really good upgrade for 2015 Mini - Never looked in to upgrading my Mini to Carplay before as I'd expected it to be expensive, then came across this great little box. Arrived in two days and straightforward to install - taking about an hour. CarPlay now runs on my ten year old Mini, just as well as it runs on much newer cars.
Purchased in the UK, arrived within 36hrs from a uk warehouse. Well boxed and easy to fit using videos online. Good responses to emails, but do have to wait until next day as seller is likely China based. Definitely recommend.
I bought a CarPlay unit for my Lexus is 350 2020. Unit went in well but it came with the wrong LVDS cable, no worries the road top support person sent me a correct one free of charge express!!!! Installed it today and couldn’t be happier. Mind you this was off the offical roadtop website and not aliexpress or anything.
Cant give zero stars so this is the lowest i can go, bought a linux car play screen for my BMW, was working fine but had a small issue where the screen on start up would switch resolution, contacted Roadtop who were very unhelpful and didn't provide any sort of solution, then started ghosting me, will not be responsible for their own products or give any sort of customer service.
Awful company!! Ordered an item and it didn’t fit I contacted them and they told me return it and they will refund me my money! It’s been over 2 weeks and it has been delivered (I have tracking proof) they where quick to ask for their product back but now have gone missing and took my money with them I want my $180 REFUND!!! AVOID THESE SCAMMERS
These guys probably make a killing from poor people who have zero thinking skills.
We bought two units from them for our BMW as a review tutorial for our new car magazine.
Both times it was out of pocket and they ended up failing pretty early. They removed the listing from AliExpress so we couldn’t report them. No refund, no exchange, nothing. Wish we could post the communications here. Positive reviews here are 1000% fraudulent.
Appleplay unit came two days after the order, when I thought it was coming from China and would take up to 15 days. They also told me I needed an extra lead, which they just sent me. Instructions all look very clear and not the normal translation problems.

I've fitted this unit now. Took about 3hrs. It is absolutely brilliant, everything is working fine. Great quality, great customer service.
Trying to get a refund off these online sellers is impossible. I've sent the equipment back and still no refund 😕
I wouldn't use them ever again the worst customer service I've ever experienced 👎🏼😢
