Defective Tent and Materials – No Resolution Despite Admitted Fault
In March 2025, I purchased a large custom Atrium tent (13x30m) from Shelter Architecture Technology (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. for professional event use in Canada. The product included transparent PVC roof and wall panels advertised as UV-resistant, weatherproof, and suitable for high-end applications. After approximately 57 days of installation, the clear PVC components (roof, walls, and doors) began showing severe internal hazing, yellowing, and complete loss of transparency—making the tent unusable for events. Multiple professional cleaners confirmed the issue was internal and not due to surface contamination. The supplier acknowledged the materials were faulty and initially agreed to fully support replacement. However, over the following 6 months, they repeatedly delayed, avoided follow-ups, and ultimately stopped responding altogether. It has now been over 200 days since my original complaint (July 17, 2025), and no replacement or refund has been issued. Replacement costs locally exceed the full price of the tent, yet Shelter has only offered a partial refund far below both their contractual obligations and the cost of damages. I have since filed a formal complaint with the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) and have reported the issue to Alibaba, Canadian trade authorities, and other regulatory bodies. I strongly caution others from doing business with this supplier until they demonstrate accountability and reliability in resolving product failures.
