Generate mode treats your text as a creative starting point, so it can rewrite or adapt the words. Custom Lyrics mode keeps your lyrics exactly as written, with no changes to wording or meaning. For your own lyrics sung as-is, Custom Lyrics mode is the one to use. On the pacing, you can steer tempo with descriptors like [mid-tempo] or [upbeat] in your prompt, then regenerate to land on a more singable version. Your Max plan already includes everything you need for both.
