Abandoned kayaks amongst the mangrove
During our guided mangrove kayak tour we had to abandon our Kayaks and walk 45 minutes through the mangrove receiving significant cuts and bruises. The tour guide misread the tide conditions and then panicked leaving us to climb back to the river while he was 30 metres ahead. We are 59 and 56 and this was a horrendous experience. The company, while it has got good reviews on other sites, clearly has no plan if anything goes wrong. The guide had no phone, no emergency whistle and no plan, asking us to try to contact someone for him. We ended up needing a tetanus booster and cuts and bruises dressed at the local medical clinic. There has been no evidence from emails from the company that they accept any issues that they need to address as a result of this. We received a few platitudes regarding how health and safety is their priority. It is clearly not and I would be wary of this company.
