Our standard consent forms do not include this language so we want to confirm what consent form this related to, and whether this research is simply meant to be internal quality control of genetic tests we offer. Normally we require separate and optional consents for any research, and destroy samples as medical waste after testing unless we have a legal basis to retain them - either a regulatory retention period or based on explicit and voluntary consent (e.g. to our biobanking research consent which is optional). We do not engage in sale or sharing of personal data or samples, and comply with applicable privacy and security laws, so are committed to reviewing this issue with you to give you comfort and assurance here that your sample and information are secure and only being used to provide services or, where needed, with your consent.
