Multcloud

Can't connect to MEGA cloud storage despite that MEGA is mentioned on the website

As mentioned on many forums for many years, MultCloud can't connect to MEGA cloud storage. This is because MEGA uses zero-knowledge or end-to-end encryption. Nevertheless, MEGA Cloud Storage is still mentioned on the website of MultCloud. On March 28, 2026, I sent this email to Multcloud support: "This week, I have purchased a lifetime unlimited subscription, but I can't log in to Mega. The correct email and password for Mega is entered. No F2A in Mega is activated. I don't use a VPN. But I still get the error message: "Some parameters are not entered correctly, or you have activated F2A." This is the nonsense response I received on March 29, 2026: "For the Mega connection issue, please make sure you log in to the Mega official page and keep the official page in the browser tab. Then, add Mega in MultCloud again. If it still does not work, please offer a screenshot of the issue. BTW, if possible, please offer your Mega account and password so the technicians will reproduce and find solutions for you." I read on some forums that MultCloud support asked for the passwords of MEGA accounts, but I thought that this was just a made-up story until I received the same ridiculous response. Of course, Multcloud might work with other cloud storage. However, the fact that MEGA is mentioned on the website, for many years on many internet forums users have complained that MEGA can't connect, and the nonsensical but dangerous request by Multcloud support to offer my MEGA password makes me skeptical about Multcloud. Fortunately, a refund was issued immediately without delay or strange questions.

EaseUS

Doesn't adhere to refund policy of refund within 30 days. Refuses to refund within 4 days. Extremely high positive review score doesn't say anything about the company and its products.

Subject: reference number 565680962 Strangely enough, Easeus' German site has a score of only 2.0 on Trustpilot but the English site has an unbelievable high score of 4.9. Is this due to fake reviews on the English site or is there something else going on? My review is about the EaseUS Todo Backup software. Before purchasing, I saw the extremely high positive score on Trustpilot. To be honest, a score of no less than 4.9 is unbelievable. After I saw this score, I sent emails to the EaseUS Support Team on March 17 and received a response the same day. My question: "I read that you offer backup to the cloud. But do you also offer bare-metal operating system restore FROM THE CLOUD (not from disk or network) such as offered by Acronis, IDrive Mirror and others?" Izzy's response: "Yes, EaseUS Todo Backup supports bare-metal recovery directly from the cloud." On March 20, I sent another email: "Does Todo Backup also work with cloud storage from pCloud and Mega?" On the same day, Izzy's response: "Yes, the product is compatible with cloud storage services such as pCloud and Mega. If you already have an account with these third-party cloud services, you can purchase the product without our cloud storage option." So I made the purchase in good faith on March 21. But guess what I discovered after my purchase? 1. Only cloud storage from EaseUS works in WindowsPE. So no third-party cloud storage. So it is of no use to make a backup of your operating system to a third-party cloud storage because you cannot recover it because your third-party cloud storage does not work from WindowsPE. 2. If you backup your data (not your operating system) to your cloud storage and you want to recover it in Windows, you will get a warning screen: "Recovering a backup image directly from the cloud may be slow or interrupted due to an unstable network connection. For large backup images, we recommend you download, then recover locally." Excuse me? Unstable network connection? I have fiber optic internet. So, it means it's useless to back up to cloud storage because you can only recover your data from physical storage? Of course, I immediately asked for a refund. EaseUS refund policy: "Generally, any customer who so wishes will receive a refund, unless: The request for a refund is made more than 30 days after the date." On March 23, I informed the EaseUS Support Team that the third-party cloud storage doesn't work in WindowsPE, but that it's even impossible to recover a backup image from cloud storage. The silly reaction from Ewan: 1. "To help you in a timely manner, we'd like to invite you to join our live chat from 7am-10am your time zone." Excuse me? Your software doesn't work but you want me to join a chat session from 7am-10am? A timeframe most people depart to their jobs? So, on March 24 I asked for a refund. As I paid on March 21, that's within 4 days. To my big surprise, these were the next reactions I received: 2. From Ewan: "Sorry for the trouble it caused to you, is that ok we give you a half refund and you can still keep the program for future use?" Is this a joke? Of course I refused and asked again for a full refund on March 24. 3. Ewan replied again on March 24: "Your refund has been submitted to our order processor for a process. You will receive refund in 2-3 workdays." But I didn't receive a credit note from the billing department, so I became suspicious. And indeed, on March 29 I hadn't received my refund yet. I had waited 4 working days (Tuesday, March 24, to Friday, March 27). So, on March 29, I sent again an email to the EaseUS Support Team: "Now 4 workdays have passed, but I still haven't received the refund. When will I receive it?" 4. Ewan again on March 29: "Let me contact our order processor to proceed refund again. You can also contact them directly to check the refund process." But on Wednesday, April 1, still no refund. Already 7 working days had passed. 5. Warren replied on April 1: "1. We have authorized our order processor Cleverbridge to issue a full refund for you. 2. In your case, the payment method is iDEAL | Wero, so the refund process may take days. 3. We kindly advise you to contact your bank, or the order platform Cleverbridge for more details." It's now April 5, and 9 working days have passed. Still no refund. As I NEVER received a credit note, it's clear to me that this refund process is fake. Why should I have to contact my bank in the Netherlands or the payment platform Cleverbridge? This is the first time a well-known company refuses to refund. Moreover, they blame the payment platform and bank. What a joke? So be careful with unbelievable high positive scores on Trustpilot. It doesn't mean anything! Update on 9/4/2026: The same day the comment below by Izzy was written, I received a credit note, and the refund was paid. Publication on Trustpilot still works! :-)

OpenDrive

Might be fast enough in the US but too slow outside the US. Software isn't finished yet.

Pros: 1. Extremely good customer service which gives clear and constructive answers within 24 hours. 2. If you wish to cancel your subscription simply send them an email and the remaining days of your subscription will be paid back to you. 3. Very clear and logic interface on both Windows desktop and Android apps and web page. 4. This is the only cloud storage I found so far which has major backup solutions and similar backup features such as AOMEI and Acronis: one-way sync, two-way sinc and backup. All can be set on certain days, times, continuously, or manually or when you start up your pc and automatically log in to the Windows desktop software. 5. Choosing the drives (including external and cloud based drives), folders and files you wish to back up is extremely easy. 6. Recovery of backupped data (complete drives, folders and files) is also extremely easy. The data can be recovered to any place you wish including internal, external and cloud-based drives. 7. Cheap and simple subscription structure. Cons: Unfortunately, OpenDrive looks like someone in the past created an almost perfect cloud storage solution but didn't finish it. 1. Windows: - The Windows Desktop client has a simple and logic interface but when you right-click your mouse most Windows features in the menu are missing. - Other Windows features are also missing such as some viewing options, eg. details + thumbnails. 2. Android: - Office and pdf documents have to be downloaded to your phone before you can see them. - Images can only be displayed in small icons which is useless for searching through your camera photos and videos. - In your file manager (any app) you can transfer your files to cloud storage by simply checking 'share' and your cloud storage app. For some strange reason, OpenDrive doesn't appear in the list of apps. Hence, the only way to transfer your phone files to OpenDrive is to open the OpenDrive app and add the files to OpenDrive. This is cumbersome and illogical. - OpenDrive isn't integrated in the most used 'Files by Google app'. It doesn't appear under 'Other storage' but other major cloud storage apps appear such as pCloud, kDrive (from Swiss-based Infomaniak) and, of course, Google Drive. 3. Most important for users outside the US: OpenDrive has extremely low upload speeds because it only has servers in the US. Therefore, OpenDrive is only fast enough for users in the US but too slow elsewhere outside the US. To summarise, OpenDrive could easily be the number one cloud storage, especially concerning the great backup features such as one-way and two-way sinc. Unfortunately, the software isn't finished yet (eg. bad integration with Windows and Android) and upload speeds are too slow for users outside the US. However, customer service informed me that in 2026 OpenDrive will open a server in Amsterdam. That's great news because European privacy laws are much stricter than those in the US. Moreover, hopefully with a server in Amsterdam speeds will dramatically enhance. If the software is also improved, OpenDrive will be one of the top cloud storage solutions and might even beat my favourite cloud storage pCloud.

Nonsense software

Software which promises to install websites as apps in Windows and macOS. The apps they show on the homepage are default plugins in web browsers such as Google Chrome or are simply websites such as YouTube. If you often visit these websites just add the shortcuts to your favourites in your browser. The webcatalog homepage reads at the beginning: "Turn websites into desktop apps". This is something each well-known browser can do with each website. Hence, this software doesn't do anything which you can't do with your browser. Therefore, it should be clear from the first reading on this website that this software is nonsense. What it actually installs isn't clear. Perhaps ransomware? Just stay clear from it and don't install it.
