A legailised scam
A company that provides a useful product and has no need to trick its customers into automatic renewals. Nowhere did we see that was what we were agreeing to. When questioned the first line of the Zoom converts reply says it all " I understand why this charge was unexpected" - it was unexpected as we did not sign up to it and it was purposely not made clear so as to trick us out of the £39.99. It goes on to say "and I’m sorry for any confusion this may have caused. To clarify, when your account was created on 15/06/2026, you started a 7-day paid trial for £0.90. As shown during checkout and confirmed by email, the subscription automatically renews at £39.99 per month unless canceled before the trial ends. Your account was billed the regular subscription fee of £39.99, as the trial was not canceled before its expiration." Two of us were at the screen on the day we paid £0.90p and neither saw we were signing up to anything other than one document being converted. No email was received telling us we would be charged a subscription fee or that we had to cancel the subscription. Luckily one of our staff spotted the charge to our card and alerted us in time to cancel it before the next payment was taken. Sadly despite providing a useful service I would avoid Zoom convert for someone a little more honest. Sadly, like us, few people check reviews until they've been caught as witnessed by other negative. reveiws. Perhaps if we all called trading standards we might get this practice stopped.
