Victim of fraud
Dear all, Over a year ago, I tried to purchase a laser cutting machine from Jinan Bodor CNC Machine Co., Ltd. I was quite impressed with the affordable prices of the machines, so I thought I could give them a try in order to start my own business based on laser cutting. At first I was very skeptical, but then, after a short research on the internet, I realized that lots of people have trusted Bodor worldwide, so they seemed to have a reliable profile company. I contacted with them via email. I sent my inquiries to the main e-mail address that I found on their website. The next day,I received a reply from a gmail address answering my questions. There was an employee named Emma Feng who was introduced as my personal assistant. I did not pay attention on the different e-mail address as it was a direct message-reply to my mail. After a long period of negotiations,I received the proforma invoice with the bank details of the beneficiary's account to whom I was supposed to make the money transfer. I moved on the payment on 03/11/2016. Meanwhile, due to capital controls imposed to my country, transferring money overseas would be a very difficult process that had to go to go through a lot of long-lasting international regulations. Nevertheless, I was constantly trying to get updates about my payment status from the bank and keep updated Bodor as well. Suddenly, on the end of that month I lost any contact with Mrs Feng. Unfortunately she contacted with me few days later from a different email addres to let me know I had transferred the money to a wrong bank account. When I tried to solve the misunderstanding, Mrs Feng explained to me that she would always have been contacting with me at a different e‐mail address which I have never owned. She also stated that theprevious e-mail does not belong to her. So, she and Mr Sang, the manager director of Bodor claimed that my personal information have been leaked. Although, I believe that the leaking comes apparently from their site since I sent my first mail to them and somebody else replied directly to me, to that mail pretending to be Mrs Feng. That’s why, I suppose that somebody, perhaps inside the company, planned the swindle and created these two different e‐mails, to deceive me. Of course I did lose my money which were transferred to the wrong bank and to a false company. The company never helped me to find a solution on this matter or offered me some kind of compensation. On the other hand, what they did was just to provide me with the right proforma invoice in order to make a new money transfer. I have already reported the scam to the Cyber Crime Unit of my country, as well as both Embassies of my country’s and China‘s, without any results till now. But I keep on publishing this case in order to find justice as well as to warn all the potential buyers. Hereby, I also share the false company’s details in order to keep everybody alarmed. In case that anybody knows something about that company or hopelessly anything similar has happened to them please let me know how to handle this unacceptable situation. Any advice would be much appreciated. UPDATE 09/03/2018 A few months after my post in Trustpilot, Mr Ramon Liu reacted to my review on behalf of Bodor. He was understanding and very willing to help me with this case. I tried to explain to him what had happened to me over a year ago, when I tried to purchase a lasercutter machine from Bodor company. I underlined the fact that we were both victims of some fraud and we should together take action against it. I also explained that I expected some kind of compensation from them as a sign of respect because of what had happened to me. Instead, he started a research in cooperation with the Chinese police in order to find the fraud. After some weeks, he informed me that the Chinese police had located the fraud in South China so they could not be of any other help to me. Moreover, he rejected my request of compensation, as he claimed that the fraud had nothing to do with the company. So, all I could ask for at last, was that the Chinese police would hand all the important information that came up with to my country’s police. Mr Liu confirmed me that the Chinese police will handle this case according to their legal process. Hence, I am not even able to proceed with the investigation from my country. In conclusion, I am still disappointed with how Bodor handled this case. I would like foremost to underline that they only cared about my case after a year ago when I had written this negative review in Trustpilot, despite my efforts to solve this in first place. What they really aimed was to change this negative review against their company. Besides, that’s what Mr Liu asked me for when he delivered the case to Chinese police and he asked me again for it when I suggested that the Chinese police delivered the evidence to my country’s police.
