Misleading claims

The website claims that “We avoid statements on our website that are misleading or exaggerate efficacy or performance” I looked into the first claim made by them about their Metabolic Harmony product. It appears to be misleading and grossly exaggerating of efficacy. They say “Australian scientist discovers “fat melting fruit" that blocks new fat cells from forming In a study at the prestigious University of Queensland, researchers discovered that Mediterranean moro blood orange contains a strange protein that blocks new fat cells from forming. In fact, when researchers told women to eat just 1 bite of this strange fruit each morning…they lost a shocking 17.7 centimeters off their waistlines…without any additional diet or exercise” Now they don’t cite the study but I found a University of Queensland study on this topic. The most significant exaggeration in the above statement is about waist circumference. The group taking the Moro extract actually lost 3.6cm from their waistline not 17.7cm. This was in comparison to a placebo group that lost 2.1cm. Also, they did not take a “bite” of a fruit, they took a 400mg tablet AND they WERE put under a diet and exercise protocol. The study I’m reading is as follows Briskey, David, Malfa, Giuseppe Antonio, and Rao, Amanda (2022). Effectiveness of “Moro” blood orange Citrus sinensis Osbeck (Rutaceae) standardized extract on weight loss in overweight but otherwise healthy men and women—a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study.
