Fotor

You Won’t Get Your Money Back

I tried Fotor but quickly realized it wasn’t for me. I especially didn’t like how much it changed people in photos. If I’m editing a family photo, I don’t want the end result looking like a stranger is standing with my family. When I went to cancel, I remember being prompted with an offer to stay, and apparently my cancellation either didn’t go through or wasn’t completed. I never used the service again and honestly never thought about it after that. Fast forward to a full-year renewal charge. I NEVER received an email or reminder beforehand saying my membership would renew in X number of days. In my experience, reputable subscription companies send a renewal notice before an annual charge, especially when a customer hasn’t been using the service. Instead, I received the charge and then an email saying it had renewed for another year. I contacted Fotor immediately after seeing the charge. A day later, I received a response stating: “You didn't cancel your subscription renewal in time, resulting in subsequent payments.” They went on to say that because their virtual service is delivered immediately after payment, the transaction had already been fulfilled and they do not provide refunds for fees already paid. So apparently, even though I contacted them immediately, hadn’t been using the service, and received no advance renewal reminder, I’m stuck paying for another entire year. If you decide to try Fotor, be VERY careful with the subscription and cancellation process. Take screenshots of your cancellation, save the confirmation, and keep track of your renewal date yourself because based on my experience, you should not count on receiving an advance renewal reminder or getting your money back afterward.
