Off-handedly
I didn’t want to make a bad review because it might mar the an otherwise spotless reputation. I booked on 08 April 2018 for Comfort Seat tickets for a scenic train trip from Oslo to Bergen on 28 May 2018. After receiving an invoice for my payment, I was informed by a computer-generated email that tickets will be issued once seat assignments are made. I waited patiently for weeks, but no tickets came. A few weeks before the planned trip, I became alarmed as there was still no word from Rail Ninja. So I emailed them to follow-up. I then received a notice informing me that my confirmation was CANCELLED and I had two choices: continue with the planned Oslo to Bergen scenic train ride, but pay the same amount for Standard seats OR forfeit and be refunded. I called the company and asked fo an explanation for this unpleasant surprise. I was told that they were informed on that self-same day that I called that the seats were blocked and my reservation was cancelled. How fortuituous can I get? Which begs the question: Does the customer need to actively follow-up before he would be informed off-handedly that his reservation was cancelled? I felt that I was given no choice; our trip hinges on reaching Bergen because our return flight home commences there. And all this time, I still have this nagging feeling that my transaction was not attended to and they ran out of seats. And they just realized they oversold the tickets when I pestered for an update. I may be wrong but the timing was suspect. Despite everything, my friend and I had a great time; the view was spectacular and the train was comfortable. Also, I commend Evdokia Kopteva for excellent customer care as she assisted me with the tickets and for patiently answering my questions. However, I will not be recommending Rail Ninja to any of my friends.
