EaseUS

Support is AWESOME

They are always available and very helpful. I own a few of their pro software. PC Trans is the only software that does what it does. Too bad it can't backup software settings or licenses. Well, some do get restored with the licenses intact, but that has to do without how they store their licenses. There is one big problems that I've discussed with them several times. Everything contained in personal folders (Documents, my main concern) restore as empty. It never, ever backs up the files they contain. There are a couple other things that also fail to restore, but I am drawing a blank. Still recommend buying this software, as it will save you so much time and effort.

No version over the years backups my desktop Derp!

I'm so mad at myself for not seeing the $10 offer on the free version page as I went directly to the Pro purchase page. XD Their product listing is confusing. You have to click dropdown menus to find anything that isn't an expensive subscription version. They call the "Pro" versions "Personal". Anyway, I wipe my system and reinstall Windows a few times a year. Something always goes wrong. And each time I installed Todo PCtrams free edition for minor things. I finally bought the Pro version the other day. I don't regret buying it other than the fact that I missed the discount page. It backs up most of my apps with the keys intact really well (something someone from support told me in the past wasn't possible). It cannot backup hardware drivers despite the program showing installed driver installations in the availability list. Guess it isn't easy, though NTLIte does it just fine. But it fails to back up my desktop no matter what. I've tried with both Windows 7 and 10 for YEARS and it just doesn't work for that one thing. Something is just wrong here. My documents do get backed up at least. The product key finder only shows TWO product keys on my system and I have a LOT of registered programs. So it is not scanning software very well. Windows and Office are all it can handle apparently, which is weird since the backups include most of my paid software with licenses intact. The Large File Cleanup is misnamed. It does not provide an option to delete anything, only to move its location. Since the Product Key finder doesn't work well, I'm wary of using their App Management function when it comes to repairing damaged apps. I just don't trust it--yet. Their partition software works very well, but you have to pay either a monthly or a yearly subscription to keep it up-to-date! That is absolutely baffling! I bought a lifetime license of PcTrans without such a limitation. I can't find the same option for PM, but maybe it's there somewhere. Anyway, I went to support and it showed chat options. Well, I was promised lifetime access to support so I clicked the appropriate one. It wasn't a chat option AT ALL, but rather an email form to which I received no autoreply, so I am left wondering if they actually received it. Maybe only 3 stars is harsh but that desktop issue has never been fixed, plus their website is confusing to me.

Fails to copy folder contents!

After testing it over and over and over this past month it does not backup and restore a LOT of content. I have folders on my desktop that have lots of content and every single time the restore produces EMPTY folders. So the Files option does not backup folder contents or subfolders AT ALL! As for apps option, it does not copy some of the files from the "program data" folder nor the Windows user folders associated with the applications. It copies some of them but often misses essential ones that are essential to proper app restoration, so registered apps become unregistered. You have to select those folders or files manually. It's so tedious reactivating dozens of programs! The backup tab will show the programs as compatible, but on restore it will often label them as "average", meaning the chance of a proper restoration is not so likely. Not technically stated but that is the real-world reality. Just stick with Macrium.. Trust me, EaseUS's backup software is inferior to that program. EaseUS used to be my favorite 10 or 15 years ago, but it's just not what it used to be.
