Bought peace of mind, got anxiety instead…

I purchased a Mammotion YUKA Mini in April 2025 for my summer house, where I only visit on weekends. The whole point of buying a robot mower was complete autonomy — scheduled to run while I was away, so the lawn would take care of itself. That promise was never delivered. From the start the mower had two persistent defects: foggy camera lenses impairing the navigation system, and the mower repeatedly stopping due to phantom obstacles that did not exist. To be clear about the conditions: my garden is only 300 m² of flat, plain grass. Trees and a greenhouse were all correctly marked as no-go zones in the app. This is as simple and ideal a setup as a robot mower could ask for. And still — the mower would get stuck attempting to cross its own configured no-go zones, or stop dead in the middle of an open lawn with nothing around it. I reported the foggy lens issue in June 2025. Mammotion's support told me it would not affect navigation. That was wrong — it was the root cause of everything. That dismissal cost me months. The behaviour when "stuck" made things even worse. The mower would drain its battery all the way to 15% sitting in place doing nothing, then suddenly navigate back to the charger without any difficulty — from the exact spot where it had claimed to be stuck. So it was never actually stuck. It simply stopped working for no reason. And once it returned to the charger and recharged to 100%, it would not resume the job automatically — you had to manually push it to continue from the app. There was another fault I witnessed with my own eyes. The mower would swing sharply backwards during operation, causing the front wheels to lift off the ground — rearing up like a horse. This triggered the lift sensors, putting the robot into a safety-suspended state. Once this happens, it cannot recover on its own. You must physically go to the mower and manually unlock it. For a property I can only reach at weekends, this meant the mower could sit stranded and idle for days at a time. For a mower at a property I can only reach on weekends, all of this meant the lawn frequently went uncut for the entire week. I can count on one hand the weeks when I didn't have to mow the lawn myself anyway. Instead of peace of mind, I got a constant stream of alerts, the anxiety of knowing the job wasn't getting done, and a lawn that looked abandoned. After further conversations in July 2025, the unit was finally sent for service in August 2025 — leaving me without a mower for nearly a month during the peak mowing season. Getting it to service was its own ordeal. Their in-app chat forces you through a lengthy AI screening process before reaching a human agent. If you switch to another app to collect evidence — photos, screenshots, logs — the chat session times out and you have to start over from scratch: answer all the screening questions again, explain the issue again to a new agent, and re-upload all your evidence. This happened to me multiple times. It is deliberately exhausting. It then took 10 days and multiple reminder emails just to receive a return shipping label. After the repair, the mower worked briefly. I packed it away for winter on 1 October 2025. When I unpacked it in mid-April 2026, the exact same faults reappeared immediately. On 3 May 2026 I submitted a formal complaint citing EU consumer law (Directive 2019/771) and Mammotion's own 3-year warranty, requesting a replacement or full refund. Mammotion acknowledged receipt on 4 May, said the case had been "escalated to the Superior Department", and has not responded since — despite two follow-up emails and a final notice with a 48-hour deadline. As of today, 11 May 2026, I am filing complaints with the European Consumer Centre Denmark and the EU ODR platform. The product failed at its most basic promise, in the most forgiving conditions imaginable — through hardware defects, software failures, and a mechanical design flaw that leaves it stranded and requiring manual rescue. Mammotion's support dismissed the root cause when I first reported it, wasted months of my time, and is now ignoring a formal legal complaint. The 3-year warranty they advertise appears to be meaningless in practice. I would not recommend purchasing from Mammotion EU.
