Mammotion (Luba) Review – Overpromised, Underdelivered
Mammotion positions the Luba series as a premium, autonomous alternative to traditional robotic mowers. In practice, it doesn’t consistently deliver on that promise. When it works, the concept is strong - wire-free mowing with RTK positioning is a real innovation. The hardware itself feels solid, and the ambition behind the product is clear. But that’s where the positives largely end. The core issue is reliability. Performance is highly sensitive to signal stability, and when conditions aren’t perfect, the system quickly becomes inconsistent. What’s marketed as autonomous often requires repeated intervention, troubleshooting, and adjustment. Setup is far from intuitive, and maintaining stable operation takes more effort than a product at this price point should demand. More concerning is the ownership experience. Despite ongoing issues, the response has been to default to repair policies or - more surprisingly - to suggest upgrading to a more expensive model. That’s a difficult recommendation to take seriously when the fundamental performance of the existing product hasn’t met expectations. Bottom line: This feels like an early-stage product being sold at a premium price. The technology has potential, but the execution isn’t there yet. Suggesting customers spend more instead of resolving core reliability issues undermines confidence in both the product and the brand. I would not recommend Mammotion at this stage unless you’re comfortable acting as a beta tester.
