Not an amazing experience!
I tried out Dresslily more as an experiment than anything else, just to see if they were everything they promised. I made an order for a few items- a dress and a tankini, plus a couple of other bits, mostly to make it up to the free shipping threshold. After TWENTY TWO DAYS they informed me that only the dress had been shipped as the tankini was out of stock. I reordered a different colour as that had been the part of the order I was particularly looking forward to, but it did seem like an outrageous period of time to realise they didn't have them (you could still order the colour and size on the day they informed me, so beware that they may not actually have in stock what they claim to). It took 35 days in total for the first part of the order to reach me in NZ. This wasn't actually a problem for me as I hadn't ordered with an event in mind (and am aware I live very far away from everything!), but is definitely something to be aware of. I had a look around before ordering and the publicly available material insinuates that Dresslily is a US company, but this isn't the case. The occasionally slightly-odd English tipped me off initially, but then all of the tracking information displayed as coming from China. There is nothing inherently wrong with Chinese companies, of course, but it did seem a bit disingenuous. The dress itself arrived well packaged and is as well put together as any high street brand. The sizing was fairly true (but please do check their guides, they run closer to Chinese sizing so as a UK 10/12 or US 8-10 I had to get a large, when I'm usually a medium). My only niggle was what I suspected- the material is a very shiny and cheap feeling synthetic. No surprises, but it didn't make it worth the wait! Overall, the designs are cute, but what you pay represents what you're getting. I would stick with value high street retailers like Primark in the UK for bargains, and I don't think I'll bother with Dresslily again.
