UOB Imbi Branch Manager who'd suggested the customer to transfer the funds into another bank in order to make the Overseas Transfers!!
I was mentally exhausted by the UOB Clowns from Ipoh Branch and Imbi in KL!! To do one overseas transfer..I felt I had to climb a massive mountain first before getting through to UOB you name it from the Customer Services to the Branch Manager! All of them are so poorly trained, clueless! So in Malaysia, Malays speak Malay, Chinese speak Chinese, majority of Indians are Tamil speakers. I was so horrified to find out from one of their Customer Service staff that Tamil language is not allowed. I switched the language since the girl couldn't understand my query. When she said ' Sorry mam, we are not allowed to speak in Tamil', the first word came in my head was DISCRIMINATION!! So Tamil speakers, if you can't speak English, Malay or Chinese, then you are screwed!! Mr Mu Theng Wei - Senior Officer in Wealth Managment - loves to make empty promises..I will get back to you with the best rate tomorrow morning (9.30am Malaysian time). But that 'tomorrow morning' is like 7 business days. Then they have another Clown, Mr Kevin the Operations Manager in Ipoh Branch. Not sure he knows himself what are the Ops Duties are, you get more frustrated when you talk to that Clown. Ms Carol, Branch Manager Ipoh - refused to take my call, so Mr Kevin the Ipoh Clown asked me to call him on his DD 05 254 0099 so that he can pass my call to Ms Carol. So is he OPS MGR or a PA?? Customer Service Dept - total time wasters, they love to put your call on hold, doesn't matter even if you tell them, that you're calling from abroad during early hours like 3am or 4am. So one needs to keep awake seeking help from useless Customer Service staff! Last incident, this is the best one of all!! Contacted Ms Claire Wong, Branch Manager from Imbi..explained the problems I was facing like transaction limit on the oversea transfer, Customer Service, Mr Mu Theng Wei, etc. etc. Ms Wong suggested that I transfer my money into another bank (a competitor), and since the transfer limit with that bank is higher, I should do all the oversea transfers with them! A Branch Manager saying that!! OMG!! Unbelievable!! Great advice, Ms Wong! I understand why Mr Mu Theng Wei is not so motivated to help a customer. So what is the point of banking with UOB then? And why is there an option 'Overseas Transfer' on their internet banking? To sum up, please avoid all the UOB Circus, if you can! I am in the process of excalating to UOB Global HQ, to report the Discrimination Policy put in place in MY!
