I met Adam Kinsey at a Curry Club dinner and realized he and Melbourne Capital could help me with a problem. I moved to Penang from the U.S. in April 2025 and thought I had all my financial accounts in order. Only after moving did I realize that the U.S. has stringent reporting rules for expats, something that has led financial institutions to simply stop servicing expats. After discovering I had relocated, one of my U.S. banks sent a notification that they would be closing my accounts, and the investment management group at Fidelity told me I could invest on my own, but they could no longer manage my account. Also, the reality of trying to do business with the time zone difference hit home.
