Questions About the Reliability of Google Reviews
My experience with Google Reviews has raised serious concerns about how genuine customer feedback is moderated. I have attempted to leave reviews based on real experiences, supported by account numbers, reference numbers, and documented correspondence with the companies concerned. Despite providing evidence and using fair, moderate language, some of these reviews were rejected without any clear explanation. One example was my disappointing experience with Bonline, a UK VoIP and broadband provider for small businesses. Google did not allow my negative review to be published, even though it was based on a genuine customer experience and supported by evidence. The same review was accepted and published on Trustpilot without issue. This raises concerns that consumers may not always be seeing the complete picture. For example, Bonline currently has a strong rating on Google, which may give potential customers a more positive impression than is warranted if legitimate negative experiences are being filtered out. When evidence-backed reviews are rejected without transparency, it inevitably raises questions about the reliability and trustworthiness of the platform. In contrast, I have found Trustpilot to be more open to publishing genuine customer experiences while still applying its review guidelines. Based on my experience, I currently have greater confidence in Trustpilot as a platform for balanced and transparent consumer feedback.
