Scammer warning, extremely careless and slow communication, and no after-sale service
The product price and the speed of delivery are OK, but the nightmare began after I received the parcel. It had been cut open on the side, and the game console was missing. I was in a huge panic and felt so frustrated. And the poor-quality customer service of WhatGeek does not help at all. After several emails, only one reply showed up after a whole day waiting, saying they would ask DPD to investigate, then contacted DPD a few times and was told there was no report from the sender at all. Then I sent them a few more emails to follow up, getting no reply at all, so just bear in mind that their email system is like every response will take at least 24 hours, rather than once the communication is set up, you can have a proper conversation. Such a bad decision to purchase from this website. ------------------------------------------------------------ Update 1 After I read many 1-star reviews here, it makes me feel more regretful about ordering things from this company. I went back and checked their policy and found there is no policy for quality guarantee, which means basically they do not provide after-sales customer service, this is normally provided by most businesses in the UK and covers at least 1 year after purchase. Not sure whether this is even legal in the UK! ------------------------------------------------------------ Update 2 The only reply I received this morning at 8:00 saying they will "immediately" contact DPD, while I called DPD a few times in the afternoon around 14:00, they said no contact was made from the sender. ------------------------------------------------------------ Update 3 I actually found that this company has two different groups here, one was set up in 2022, with more bad reviews and a lower score, and the other one was set up in 2023, with a higher score (perhaps more bot reviews). This kind of style may also raise a concern. ------------------------------------------------------------ Update 4 After three days (including a weekend), I received the second email from them, asking for a series of photos of the damaged parcel, why they could not do that at the first place? I think I had enough of such a ridiculous "one email every 24 hours" pattern and already escalated this to PayPal. Let's see how it is going. ------------------------------------------------------------ Update 5 I do not trust a single word this company replied here. What truly happened is they keep delaying this order and asked me to wait for the DPD investigation without providing a clear time frame to sort this case. For anyone who has an issue with this company, PayPal or your bank is your only hope of getting things right. This scammer is good at using this kind of template (maybe generated by AI) to keep you waiting, but nothing will happen. And they do not have an actual UK address, which means you could not initiate a case in small claim court. ------------------------------------------------------------ Final Update This is the nastiest seller I have ever met, they now started arguing whether this is the courier’s fault or not, which is none of my business. Also, they automatically send the invitation for reviews but when I left a negative one, they deleted it. Finally, PayPal issued me a refund very efficiently as soon as they reviewed the case. After that, WhatGeek just sent me an email immediately saying they issued me the refund, sounds like they did that voluntarily rather than being forced to by PayPal, and one day ago they still asked me to wait as they try to make a claim to DPD. Please, if you see this, try your best to avoid this company.
