Shady subscription tactics
Subbed to EaseMate. Wanted to cancel my sub after a few weeks before the next cycle. It said I wasn't subbed to monthly anymore, k cool. Then a few days ago I was charged again. I checked EaseMate's plan pricing again, once again said I am not subbed. Checked account.easeus webpage, there it shows the monthly purchase, but no way to cancel it. What a bunch of scammers. They'll essentially let you easily sub, but then it's literally impossible to cancel unless you engage with their slow/broken support system via email and live chat. Borderline illegal. Edit: While live chat didn't work at all, their email support at least got back to me rather quickly. They have *said* they canceled my sub and there won't be future renewals. It's nice that support didn't try to argue, but I most definitely shouldn't have needed to contact them. Again, EaseMate's showed the wrong plan (said basic/free when in reality I was still a paid sub) and they even say you can cancel via the action center or whatever, when in reality EaseMate doesn't have anything like that. I couldn't cancel from the pricing tab, with the plans, since it didn't say I was subbed (when again.. I was) and on account.easus there simply doesn't exist a cancel option. From that page all you can do is look at your recent orders, re-purchase them (lol! so that's made easy?) and contact support. The fact you need to contact support and wait for a response and also *hope* that you've actually had your plan canceled, trusting them, sucks. I raised my score from 1 to 2 stars because they were at least quick to respond via email, although live chat being utterly broken sucked. Reminds me of Louis Rossmann's gym membership that required a certified letter to be sent to a physical address, for his membership to be canceled. Signing up is made very easy, while canceling is made as difficult as possible.
