Pestie’s “No-Hassle” Guarantee Has Been Nothing but a Hassle
Pestie’s “No-Hassle” Guarantee Became a Moving Target I used Pestie for more than a year. After applying my July 14 treatment, ants began appearing throughout my home. I contacted Pestie on July 20 and remained in communication with the company throughout its stated 14-day waiting period and through August 4. Pestie mentioned that a booster might be available after July 28 if I contacted the company again, but it never authorized, scheduled, or sent one. I cancelled after losing confidence in the treatment and purchasing TERRO bait and diatomaceous earth to address the problem myself. Pestie now characterizes my cancellation as declining a booster, even though no booster was actually available when I requested help. During this dispute, Pestie also changed or updated the policy posted on its website. Pestie claims the requirements it now relies upon were already in effect, but it never provided the complete policy governing my original July 20 request or identified what changed. That makes it nearly impossible for me—or any independent reviewer—to determine what the starting policy actually required. A guarantee should not become a moving target while a customer is actively attempting to use it. Pestie ultimately declared its decision final, refused a full refund, and would not provide a prepaid label for the two unused treatments. At the same time, it continued sending marketing offering new customers 35% off and claiming its service stops ants before they enter. Apparently, Pestie is willing to spend money acquiring new customers but unwilling to cover basic return shipping to fairly resolve a dispute with a customer who remained with the company for over a year. I have now disputed the charge with my credit-card issuer. Regardless of that outcome, this review reflects my experience: no booster, no prepaid return label, no refund under the advertised guarantee, and no verifiable copy of the policy that applied when I first requested assistance.
