I am writing this as the owner of a small B&B that Agoda advertised at way below the regular room rate. Though I had permitted Agoda to list my property, they advertised this drastic price reduction without my knowledge or permission. Our rates are the same on my website as well as every online travel agency (OTA) - booking.com, Expedia, VRBO, Google Hotel Ads, etc. To make matters worse, Agoda charges 18% commission which is more than every other OTA. This resulted in revenue for a two-night reservation at far below the amount that would normally have been charged. Plus even this paltry payment was not received until the 25th of the month following the guest's stay. Obviously, Agoda is undercutting all the other OTA's as well as reservations made on my website for which there would be no commission paid. After receiving the second of these cut-throat reservations in one week, I immediately withdrew permission for Agoda to list my property. As an owner, I am prohibited from charging less for my rooms than what the OTA's charge....but apparently Agoda was not interested in adhering to the same standard. After weathering a horrible year due to the Covid pandemic, it is beyond my understanding how Agoda could act in this way against my small B&B. I'm done with them. I hope others will be as well.
