I strongly recommend thinking twice…
I strongly recommend thinking twice before purchasing a Samsung refrigerator, particularly if you expect meaningful support when something goes wrong. I purchased my Samsung refrigerator in May 2021. When it stopped cooling properly, I contacted Samsung and paid a required $140 diagnostic/service fee before the technician came to my home. Samsung initially performed remote troubleshooting and identified a potential compressor-related issue. An authorized technician later physically inspected the refrigerator and provided the actual repair recommendation. The result? $1,414 for the repair. Approximately a 50% chance the repair would actually work. No refund if it didn't. So I was being asked to gamble $1,414 on repairing a refrigerator that was approximately five years old. If the repair failed, I would lose the $1,414 and still need to purchase another refrigerator. I escalated the matter to Samsung Corporate. I also filed a BBB complaint. Samsung reviewed the remote diagnosis, diagnostic fee, technician inspection, and repair estimate and declined to reimburse the $140, assist with the repair, replace the refrigerator, or offer ANY other accommodation. Their repeated response has essentially been that the refrigerator is outside the applicable warranty period. I understand what "out of warranty" means. My complaint is about what Samsung considers an acceptable customer experience after the warranty expires. If Samsung's own authorized service provider can only offer me a $1,414 nonrefundable repair with approximately a coin-flip chance of actually fixing the appliance, I would expect the manufacturer to recognize that this is not a reasonable solution. Samsung disagrees. After reviewing everything, Samsung Corporate informed me that its decision is final and that it will provide no additional accommodation. So I am now left replacing a refrigerator purchased in May 2021 after already paying $140 for the service process, while Samsung considers the matter closed. Before spending thousands of dollars on a Samsung appliance, consumers should understand what support may look like several years down the road. My experience has made my decision very easy: I will not purchase another Samsung appliance.
