The 'wood' was a little thinner than anticipated, 1/4" but it went together quickly and easily. I added a shelf on top of the unit for my printers, and 4 legs so it sits above the carpet, easy to do. Fits well and suits my needs, would not call it a heavy duty shelf unit though.
