Walmart

Heat, Payroll Issues, and Unfair Attendance Policies

My experience working at Walmart was extremely disappointing. One of the biggest issues was the lack of concern for employee well-being. While pushing shopping carts in temperatures over 90°F, I was frequently denied water breaks despite the physically demanding nature of the job and the heat. I also had repeated issues with payroll. My paychecks were frequently short, and when I brought the discrepancies to management's attention, they refused to investigate or resolve the issue. The attendance policy was equally frustrating. On just my third day of work, I became sick and provided a doctor's note. Because I had not yet worked long enough to accrue Protected Paid Time Off (PPTO), I still received an attendance point despite documenting my illness. The scheduling policies also felt unfair. Employees were expected to provide at least three weeks' notice for time off or schedule changes, yet I was threatened with termination for refusing to work Black Friday after being given only two days' notice that my schedule had changed. It was frustrating to be held to a standard that management did not follow themselves. Based on my experience, employee health, fair treatment, and accountability were not priorities. I cannot recommend Walmart as a place to work.
