Walmart

walmart + travel packages are fraud

I want to share my experience with Walmart+ Travel so others can make an informed decision before booking. On May 29, 2026, I booked a flight and hotel package through Walmart+ Travel because the listing advertised the flight as "100% covered with stay" for Walmart+ members. Based on that representation, I expected the only cost to be the hotel portion of the package. After completing my purchase, I was surprised to receive an additional $156.79 charge from Delta Air Lines that was not reflected in the advertised package price. My hotel charge was $371.16, bringing my total to $527.95. I contacted Walmart the next day to dispute the unexpected airline charge. I was told Walmart was not responsible because the charge came from a third-party vendor. From my perspective, that explanation conflicted with the way the package was presented during booking. If third-party charges can still be added after checkout, I believe consumers should be clearly informed before they purchase. Because I believed I had been charged differently than the package was advertised, I asked Walmart to cancel the reservation. At no point during that conversation was I told that canceling would mean forfeiting the entire amount I had already paid. Had I been informed that cancellation would result in no refund, I would not have canceled. The airline and hotel confirmed the cancellation, but I received no refund. I disputed the charges with my credit card company, but the dispute was denied because the merchants confirmed that I had originally purchased the travel package. As a result, I paid $527.95 for a trip I never took. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau seeking either a full refund or reinstatement of my original reservations. Walmart responded that it was reviewing the matter but also considered the complaint closed without resolving my concerns. I'm sharing this experience so other consumers know to carefully review every charge and ask detailed questions before booking through Walmart+ Travel. If you see language such as "100% covered with stay," confirm exactly what is—and is not—included, whether any third-party charges may be added after booking, and what the cancellation policy means for your refund if something goes wrong. This was my experience, and I hope it helps someone else avoid the same outcome.
