"Mastery" quests no longer included.
"Mastery" quests no longer included. Questionable integrity. For the cost of $400 per year you wouldn't really expect that a whole level of quests are now not included. The"Mastery" tab has appeared in the app. A large number of quests are now "not available" unless you are willing to pay an additional $200 per mastery quest. What does this say about the non-mastery quests? The all-in-one nature of the subscription was one of its main selling points for me. I understand (but still don't agree) if they wanted to charge extra for live courses. However there's no real excuse for blocking old recordings. Even recordings from the previous year are no longer accessible to "non-mastery" users anymore. I had been working my way through one of these old recordings. Which are now not available. The rest of the app (ie what's still included for the very expensive annual subscription fee) is starting to feel increasingly sparse and neglected as more and more effort is going into the "mastery" -and other pay-extra, sections which have sprung up. I really hope they re-think this strategy. It's not a good way to treat customers. I will definitely be cancelling my subscription. This sentiment isn't really- yet- being reflected in the reviews on the App Store. It is elsewhere. I think sometimes millionaire CEO's can start to live in ivory towers, ironically (especially in this case) getting swept up in their own narratives about how great they are, and how “truly special” and “transcendent” their service is. The reality is less glittery. It’s a reasonable collection of informative mini-courses. Each with a few genuinely interesting perspectives/learning points dispersed amongst lots of self-aggrandising and filler content easily found freely elsewhere. In reality the Mindvalley course is more like 3 stars. When I first signed up a few years ago, I would have said 4 stars. I’m giving it one star because of the sheer lack of insight and consideration shown by the owners of this service. They seem clueless of the fact that people are struggling all over the world. Finances are strained for the majority of people.Mental health amongst all age groups, especially younger people is the worse it’s ever been and declining. Chronic stress is at epidemic levels. This service has the potential to genuinely help everyday people (not just the super rich). It could be a force for positive change and help people gain the skills they have never been taught to make their lives better. No one expects services to be offered at a loss. However -$400 per year for this service is a fair price and already too much for many people. Adding layer after layer of new “pay-extra mastery courses”, (which are essentially what the “normal” courses once were like) and asking for $200 extra per course is obscene really. The users are the people who make the app. The users are ultimately who the business depends on. I hope the decision makers don't lose sight of this and don't lose sight of why they made the app, the business in the first place.
