Good luck if something goes wrong
Always was happy with Raise (now GCX) until the very first time I had a problem. I bought three gift cards from one merchant in one order, none of which worked. I immediately submitted a report through the customer service bot (the only customer service available), screenshots and all. Twice my submittal was lost/ignored. When I inquired about the status of my submittal to confirm it was received, I was told by the bot to submit details yet again. I refused and that prompted an email telling me to (again) submit the details. I did once more (time #3). Then, a few days later (now over a week after my initial report) I got an email telling me that while one card could be refunded, the other two - because the error message suggested the card had been used - could not, unless I provided "written confirmation" from the merchant that I had not deposited the funds into my own account. So they sold me the defective cards, but put it on me to go chase the merchant's customer service to get some kind of written statement. I then spent three days going back and forth with the merchant trying to get this statement. This was very frustrating - although in fairness, the situation was not the merchant's fault, and this was an unusual thing for me to be requesting. I gave up eventually, sent Raise/GCX a screenshot showing no deposits into my account with the merchant, and still did not get any action. Not knowing what else to do, I wrote the Better Business Bureau and also disputed the charge with my credit card company. Then, miraculously, the merchant sent something noting the cards had been deposited into someone else's account. I sent this information to GCX/Raise and the remaining balance was refunded. While this is a happy ending, we're coming up on two weeks later; this took a huge amount of time and effort to resolve - cutting extensively into my personal time. For a card of moderate value, it is simply not worth the energy it takes to do all this - which is exactly what they are hoping, that you will give up and go away. A "guarantee" should not require this much work to enforce (it is not really a guarantee but an opportunity to petition for relief), and a little more help/responsiveness is required after taking someone's money and providing them something with literally zero value in exchange. Good luck if this ever happens to you! I am going to be very cautious in the future about Raise/GCX.
