Avoid DJI at all costs
Avoid DJI at all costs. They don’t have the best product on the market, instead they have the worst customer support. I purchased last month Osmo action 4. This month they released Osmo action 5 which has many improvements over OA4, especially battery life, which to me was important. I first hoped there was a trade in program, I had a chat with their support just to get their “we are very sorry” jingle. “Not possible, the program was down since 2021. Just sell your camera on eBay or whatever, then come back and buy OA5 from us.” Cool. I mentioned that any serious tech company provided trade in programs, Apple, Samsung, why don’t they? The response was, I will help you this time, we will refund your OA4 if you commit buying IA5, I said “Yes, I agree”. They replied “Good, our support team will be in touch with you in 24-48h” Support replied next day by email starting with their “we are sorry for your inconvenience “ jingle, At this time I was skimming through the email to read the part about the OA4 return. But instead I see a paragraph praising how good OA4 was and I should keep it because more than 14 days have passed and cannot be returned. The message was signed by “Charles DJI Customer care” So I will keep OA4 as they suggested. It is now part of my memorabilia “The last ever product I purchased from DJI”. But wait, no I will sell it on eBay. BTW Osmo Action 4 voice commands are just a joke for English speakers. They conveniently also support Chinese, but it’s not an option for me. Update on October 5, 2024. After writing the above review, DJI contacted me to verify that my experience with their customer support was genuine. They reconsidered, and took the action to do a full refund, after I shipped back the OA4, and that solved my issue. I give them a star up for this, so now my review levels at two stars. However, I had to go through all the pain and spend the time for this outcome. Good luck you all when dealing with DJi!
