Xiaomi evasive about updates
Samsung and Apple are completely upfront about their update policy, and every country gets the same. Xiaomi and the rest of the Chinese manufacturers are nearly impossible to pin down. Europe gets several years of updates because of EU law, other countries get much less and it is difficult to find out the truth. I just spent a pointless session with Xiaomi chat trying to pin down their policy. All I could get was the approximate number of years of security patches and no info on system updates. No one wants to invest money in a phone without knowing how long the company will support it. Why is Xiaomi so reluctant to commit to an honest answer? Perhaps because people wouldn't buy the phone if they knew the truth.
