Their business practices are deceptive. I booked 2 tickets for travel on Portugal rail from Faro to Lisbon. When I entered the information the price came back as $52 CDN per ticket. As I had been directed to their website through several different portals I assumed they were a legitimate booking agent and agreed. The total came to $104 and it wasn't until after I had agreed and paid, and checked the box that these were non-refundable that I was shown the tickets. The actual cost of the tickets was 14.50 euros per ticket, about $22 CDN, $44 in total. I checked at the train station when we arrived and the cost to book at the station on the day of travel, the most expensive way to do it, was 26 euros per ticket, about $39 CDN, $78 in total. I expected a reasonable service charge for the service but $60 on 2 tickets that cost $44 is far beyond reasonable. This company will rip you off, don't use them. Rail Ninja's response to this review in no way addressed the complaint I made in my review. I was well aware of the cancellation policy and did not try to cancel the tickets. That policy is there so you can't cancel after you book and there is no transparency for the fees that they charge at any time in the process so you're stuck if you proceed. I rarely write negative reviews about anyone but this level of gouging is beyond my tolerance. Update October 3, 2025. The company contacted me and apologized for what happened and blamed it on a problem with their system linking to the train company ticketing. The have given me a full refund of the service fee of $60 and asked that I update this review. The refund has been received along with the apology. No explanation as to why it took 7 months but better late than never.
