Stay away from Shift4
Deceptive billing and ridiculous customer service Stay away from Shift4. After years of smooth service with Smartpay, the transition to Shift4 has been a disaster. They changed my plan and significantly increased my fees, providing "notice" via a single email that was very easy to miss. They then auto-debited my account before I could even process the change. When I reached out to resolve this, I spent an hour on hold only to deal with staff who were unhelpful and dismissive. Their attitude was essentially "it's your fault for not seeing the email." It feels like being cheated by a company that relies on stealthy fee hikes rather than good service. I have terminated my service immediately. Do your research and choose a provider that actually values transparency. Don't waste your time or money here.
