Hidden fees, potential fraud
I have used this service twice now. First time, sending a package domestically, was just fine. No issues and a great price. This last time, however, I sent a package internationally (not sure if it matters), which arrived but the packaging was very damaged (blame it more on the carrier than Parcelmonkey, thanks UPS). My only issue? They decided to charge me more because my box was smaller and weighed less than I quoted. The reason? They won’t let you do any measurements precisely. My package was, say, 10.5” wide. They would only let me chose 10 or 11 inches. Obviously I would be charged more if my package was bigger than what I quoted, so I chose 11. Surely they wouldn’t have any reason to be upset with having more room, right? Obviously I was wrong. Same with weight. My package only weighed about half a pound. It won’t let you choose anything less than a pound, so I chose 1lb. Surely they wouldn’t have any reason to be upset with the package weighing less, right? Obviously I was wrong. I work in shipping management, often dealing with LTL, and I know they’re more than happy to charge you extra for being over weight or over sized. I deal with price disputes with our AP clerk all the time, arguing over additional fees and charges. Never have I EVER been charged for underweighting or undersizing. Far as I am concerned, this is in fraud territory, and they will never have my business again.
