I installed Rebtel specifically to avoid high calling costs while abroad. I purchased subscriptions/credits and genuinely believed that my calls were being made through the Rebtel app. Unfortunately, it later turned out that the calls were routed through my mobile provider instead, without any clear warning or notification in the app. As a result, I received a phone bill of €750 from my provider. Had it been clear at any point that the calls were not going through Rebtel, I would have stopped immediately. What makes this especially frustrating is that I actively tried to prevent high costs by using Rebtel. The app gave me the impression that I was calling safely via their service, while in reality that was not the case. Discovering this only after receiving such a high bill feels extremely unfair. I am currently in contact with Rebtel to understand what went wrong and how this will be resolved. I will update this review once it becomes clear how Rebtel handles this situation.
