Never buy a Boox device
The company makes the money from selling hardware. So they ship each device riddled with bugs but then never actually release any software updates. What happened with the Boox Note Max (i.e. shipped with major ghosting bugs and the abandoned) was unacceptable. It's basically a scam company.
