Positive follow up by Bellhop
My 2-bedroom apartment home move was estimated at 5 hours for a full-service move. the move took over 10 hours. The crew members were courteous however they were not prepared with everything needed for the move which contributed to the move time going over. They arrived without tools and proper moving equipment causing delays as 1 member went to purchase a dolly. They were not prepared to disassemble furniture and had to borrow my tools to complete the task. I specifically asked Bellhop about tools and was assured that the team would come equipped with tools and moving equipment, including blankets. They also did not have blankets so several of my items were dirty, scuffed or marred as a result of being unprotected in the moving van. Due to the time involved, I totally understand them taking a break to eat, however, I would have appreciated knowing in advance that they were planning to stop for a meal enroute to my new home. I was concerned when I did not hear from them for over an hour while I waited for them to arrive. Bellhop initially discounted the time that the crew took for a meal break. I reached out with my feedback about the move and after some additional follow up they did agree to provide an additional discount in consideration for the other factors that contributed to the move going over time. As the company brokering the move they advertised that the movers would have everything needed for the move and took some accountability for the movers they work with that do not live up to the promises made by Bellhop.
