Non spread

Some time ago, I purchased a one-kilogram silver bar sold as a “premium” product by the same seller. It was priced higher than similar bars from other brands, but the reason was a very low or near-zero spread (non spread) between the purchase price and the buyback price when selling back to them. When the price of silver later increased significantly and I decided to sell, the seller lowered the buyback price for this product. At the same time, the listed selling price was also lowered to maintain the appearance of a minimal spread, while the product was marked out of stock, so it could not actually be purchased at that price. As a result, I still made a profit because silver had risen, but the extra advantage paid for upfront was reduced. I’m sharing this experience simply to highlight that buyback prices and spreads for “premium” products are often policy-based and fully controlled by the seller, and may change over time. It’s something worth understanding carefully before choosing similar products.
