I Rarely Leave Negative Reviews, But Creators Should Know This
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Podbean has been incredibly frustrating. After spending a full year on the platform without ever needing support, the first time I actually needed help—with a billing issue—I found there was no real support available. What started as a simple issue—being charged for an annual plan when I intended a monthly subscription—turned into an ongoing dispute with no clear resolution. I made multiple attempts to resolve it, including working through my credit card company to dispute only the annual portion while still paying what I believed was the correct monthly fee. Instead of working toward a fair solution, my account was locked unless I withdrew the dispute and agreed to the annual plan I had originally questioned. This left me unable to access my own podcast content unless I complied with terms I did not agree to. Equally frustrating is the lack of access to a real person. All communication is handled via email, which made an already stressful situation feel even more drawn out and impersonal—especially when you actually need support. As a creator, you don’t think much about support—until you need it. Unfortunately, when I did, Podbean wasn’t there. I’m now in the process of moving my podcast to another platform. I hope this isn’t representative of every customer’s experience, but I can only speak to my own.
