I entered my request for painters on…
I entered my request for painters on Tuesday morning, hoping to get calls, texts or emails from trusted companies. What I got was a knock on my door while I was in a meeting with my realtor. Not only did this man show up uninvited, he pushed for a time that day that he could come back and look at the project. After he left I received a huge text that was just a review of himself. Which is fine, mostly, but also very unprofessional in my opinion. I let him look at the house at the end of the day after all my other appointments. Boy was that a mistake. I got texts again about how great it was to meet me and he looks forward to working with me. The following day I receive a text so long my phone shortened it and I had to hit the arrow to open it. If I could post a picture, I would. It was a quote for so many things I couldn’t tell you what the total is. Which makes me feel like he would add things on later. But before I could even finish reading it, he was calling me. I sent it to voice mail. It was dinner time with my children. Well I received another text telling me how great he is called himself “perfectionistic”. I was going to just ignore it and meet with other painters and then answer everyone. But I soon became worried that he would show up at my door the following day if I didn’t. So I send a text that I got the message and would get back to him after I’ve met with everyone else. He says “great, thank you”. Not even 10mins goes by and I get another huge text that was so hard to understand. Parts of it said he could tell I can get a good sense of people and he hopes I got a good sense from him. Along with what he could do for me if I hired him for the job. Not even 10mins from that I get another huge text. This one is telling me if I get a lower bid to at least give him a chance to negotiate with me and my husband to reach a better one. Then another huge text comes. I think he’s using talk to text because these things are huge, no way is he typing that fast. Anyway, this one is talking about his cats, calling my cats beautiful so he wanted to show me his. Sends me 5 pictures of said cats. I ignore all of these and finally the text stop. Now I’m afraid if I say no, he will show up at my door again. And I’m home alone, which he knows. Because I had to explain where my husband was because he wanted to meet him as well. Long story short, don’t use Angi, they give your address to people they don’t vet. It’s a very dangerous practice and jn glad I’m moving!!
