LingoAce

Treat Teachers Like Robots

My time instructing at LINGOACE left me thoroughly disappointed, as it quickly became evident that the organization has little genuine regard for its educators. Through dedication and steady effort, I had established a reliable group of recurring learners. However, when a medical situation in my family forced me to reschedule a handful of sessions—without ever breaking their policy on unexcused absences—they abruptly reassigned every one of my pupils elsewhere, offering neither warning nor reasoning. On top of that, I eventually realized that parents aren't actually the ones selecting and reserving lessons for their children; rather, LINGOACE staff make those decisions, meaning learners are distributed to instructors based purely on what the company decides. Because they keep hiring far more instructors than there are students to go around, receiving any learners feels completely arbitrary and unstable. The compensation model is equally poor—they deduct pay for nearly everything: showing up even sixty seconds past the start time, marking a student as absent without official notice, and even when a child cancels at the very last moment, you still get penalized. Furthermore, the administrative staff frequently come across as dismissive and unpleasant in their written replies, and they tend to overlook instructor questions unless answering somehow serves their own interests. They never once considered the lasting bond between a teacher and a student—or the connection to the student's family—when they removed me from that school over such flimsy justifications. It's as if they have no interest in real people teaching; they'd prefer lifeless machines. But the reality is that genuine educators develop affectionate, compassionate, human relationships with their learners—the very thing no robot could ever replicate.
