Female Family Gathering
All the women in my family get together once a year for the weekend. This year we made it a long weekend and I'm so glad because we stayed in Heaven's View at Auntie Belham's. The name matches the cabin. There were 11 of us and there was plenty of room. We’ve never stayed where the dining table was large enough for everyone to eat together but the extra-large rustic picnic dining table had enough room for us and company. I never sleep well away from home but I stayed in the master sweet and that bed & fluffy pillows were a dream. The cabin is two levels with plenty of space; we've stayed in cabins that you literally have to touch each other to pass by the couch. The Theater was a great addition because we ALL got to watch old & new movies together. Everyone just sitting around talking about the past, family members who are no longer with us and discussing the future; our youngest member being only one and she had a blast. I hope she does the Female Family Trips when she is my age. We all are a bit competitive so it was only natural to try and crush each other at air hockey (I'm an air hockey champ so no one played me). If you lost at air hockey you had to play pool against someone to get back into the “winner’s” bracket. Saturday night we went to The Peddler in Gatlinburg for dinner. I heard a few gasps when others opened their menus because of the prices but once their steak came, they completely understood. I had a filet and it is truly the best steak I have ever eaten in my life, didn't even use a knife to cut it only my fork, cooked to perfection. The view, oh, the view! Words can't describe how beautiful this view is. To wake up, have a good cup of coffee and sit on the deck to view the beauty God created on this earth was indescribable! Absolutely breathtaking. This was my favorite part of the trip, sitting on the deck with those I love and just talking about the past and things we’ve been through. The only issue we did have was a dog that thought he was a rooster; he was an early riser somewhere in the distance. Each morning, he began barking at 6am. The cabin is pretty secluded and surrounded by nature so really never figured out where the little barker was. Even that couldn't run the perfect time we had together. We have talked about a fall trip because I know the view with all those colors would be amazing! As far as the company we rented with, they were the true meaning of southern hospitality. They answered every question we had, crazy or not. We did the no office check-in and it was great. As soon as we got to the mountains, we got to go straight to our cabin. The location of our cabin was also perfect. We were off a side road that put us basically between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, making it about a 15 minute drive to either. I would recommend Auntie Belham's Cabin Rentals and Heaven's View for an amazing Smoky Mountain Vacation. P.S. I want to mention the HVAC at this unit! Oh my gosh, I don't know who makes it but it is the greatest HVAC I have ever felt. I don't know how it works in the winter but for the summer, this is only place to be. The cabin was very large and it was cool all the time, we didn't touch the thermostat set at 75 the whole time. Thank you to Auntie Belham's and the home owner for the best time we have had together yet!
